"Catan", the legendary strategy game provides gaming fun anytime, anywhere.
True to the original game, you can compete with up to four players for the most settlements, the longest roads and the largest army. You can trade with each other and claim the precious land with all its resources.
Challenge other Catan fans online via cross-platform multiplayer to prove your strategy skills or play against the AI:
Various computer opponents, each with their own individual characteristics, will prove themselves worthy competitors: the pirate Jean, who knows no compromise, Vincent the merchant, who never allows himself to be cheated, Sean the knight, who takes what is rightfully his...
The popular Catan expansions "Seafarers", "Cities and Knights" and two new special scenarios are available as In-App purchases.
The complete Seafarers expansion includes more than 10 additional scenarios with an extensive campaign. Become Harbormaster, discover new islands and extra game elements like ships, gold fields, treasures and pirates. Ahoy!
The Cities and Knights expansion introduces various new gameplay mechanics that add even more variety to Catan. Invest new trade goods in city improvements to build one of the three metropolises of Catan – but beware of the barbarians attracted by Catan’s new wealth! You’ll need your best knights to fend them off! C&K contains a short campaign and 7 challenging maps.
Exciting adventures await you in the two new scenarios "Enchanted Land" and "The Great Canal". Vanquish dragons and bag their treasures or build a canal to help barren grain fields bloom once more.

Question: An expansion seems gone after an update or reinstallation of Catan or after restoring the device?
Answer: Don’t worry, your initial purchase is already saved in your iTunes account. You can restore your InApp purchases by selecting the restore-option in the Catan IAP menu.
Question: I lost my campaign progress after reinstalling, updating or restoring my device. Is there any way to restore it?
Answer: When saved games can’t be automatically restored, we’ve integrated a cheat code: In the campaign mode go to select player and enter "CatanWarp*" (* = 1–15) as your player name and confirm. Exit the game via the home button and restart it. The campaign can now be continued from the specified level number (1–15). Levels up to the specified number will be unlocked in the custom game mode as well.
Question: Are dice rolls really random?
Answer: Of course! All dice rolls are 100% random and not modified in any way. We’re avid Catan players ourselves. We’ve played the iOS version hundreds of times while developing the program. There have been times when we won and lost a few games in a row because of the dice - just like when playing the board game!

Great Game, Annoying Bugs
I absolutely love Catan and play it all the time. The game looks very nice too and the UI is well done. However, almost every time I play I encounter a bug when taking some sort of action, like playing a card. Example: I have a card that allows me to build a free city wall and I play it. The game then asks me to select a city. During this time, the entire bottom half of the screen becomes unresponsive and the only way to select a city that is towards the bottom of the map is to drag the screen all the way up so that it eventually is in the top half of my screen. The problem then comes when it is time for me to confirm my action. The checkmark I need to click is located on the right side on the bottom half of my screen, so I can never actually confirm my action. It is like there is an invisible menu or something that is blocking my screen. It makes the game almost unplayable. This happens with a lot of actions that require me to select a settlement, city, or region.
Please fix this. I bought all the expansions and I love playing your game.
Of course the dice are rigged!
A robot moves the robber to your most productive hex. Its number hasn't come up in a while but boom, it hits on the very next roll, doing you no good! You finally get the ore you need to build that city but now you're over the card limit and boom, up pops a 7 to rob you blind! You have 8, 9 and 5 covered, a great set of numbers, but wow, the dice keep coming up 6, 4 and 10! You know the dice odds and something feels fishy. And it is! The robots play so badly in Catan HD that they have to have the dice rigged in their favor to have any chance at all. I mean, seriously, if you have 10 or more victory points in Cities & Knights with a 20 card hand and you can't win the game right there, you need to go back to settlers school! I beat the robots at least 9 times out of 10, but they torture me the whole way because they get away with highway robbery. I implore Klaus Teuber and friends to improve the AI in Catan HD and make it a computer game truly worth playing. 3 stars only until that happens.
Love the game, don't like the app
The game is great, but the UX needs a lot of work.
Major frustration points:
When proposing a trade online, if one player walks away for even a minute or two then everyone is held hostage waiting for the other person to respond. Put time limits on trades proposals (30 sec max) and give the person proposing the trade the option to withdraw the trade. I've seen the action killed in a game when this kind of delay occurs, with all parties sitting around waiting, not knowing why.
Matchmaking: when selecting a game type, I should have the ability to select which type of game I want to play: regular settlers, seafareres, or cities & knights, or random. This is another way to get people to purchase the expansion - show them what they are missing by visibly making SF and CK accessible only to those who have upgraded. This should increase revenue.
When I decline a game type, don't kick me out of matchmaking, move me into the next game match.
Messaging: half the fun of Catan is the interpersonal dynamics of the game. You neutered the UX when limiting communication to basic symbols. I am not limited to symbols and gestures in real life. Give me the ability to talk trash, negotiate, vent, and celebrate with an in game message board.
As others have said, give the AI some real intelligence.
This is such a great game with such an underwhelming UX it's really sad. Invest some money and help this game reach its potential.
