"...these apps are simple but they’re full of charm because of the design. They’re beautiful to look at and full of lots of character. Plus they’ve got a hippo. Do I need to say more?" --The iPhone Mom
Hippo Hooray series was a "Gold Recipient" -- Mom's Choice Awards
Created by parents for their own children (and tested extensively with those very same kids), Scoop Shoppe is a great way to help young children hone their pattern matching skills and keep them entertained. From the makers of the Hippo Hooray series of iOS apps including Hippo Hooray Colors, Shapes, Numbers, and Letters, Animals, Fruit, Alien Monster Mix and Match, and A Story Before Bed, this accessible game has several characters (including a giraffe, monkey, and rhino as well as Honey the Hippo and Rafael the Robin) asking the player to build ice cream cones that match the orders coming into the ice cream shop. Starting with only a few options the first few cones are simple. But after a series of successful orders the player gets new ingredients and more complicated orders. Children can keep playing to see how high a score they can achieve!
The illustrations are adorable, the characters are cute, and the ice cream cones look ready to eat... delicious! In addition to the high quality artwork, the user interface is super simple letting your toddler focus on cognitive, language, and motor development.

My 3 year old granddaughter
Picked out this game and I bought it for her despite the mediocre reviews. She plays it frequently and seems to enjoy it. She has a tendency to do everything at warp speed, so this game teaches her to slow down some and look at the details. Like everyone else, I think some kind of free play option would be good.
Ok but needs improvements
Interface could improve. Child double clicking by mistake is not ok for an app designed formkids. Sounds could improve, especially to positively reinforce the child when it does well.
For a kid too difficult that if you do just one tiny mistake the whole game resets.
I was surprised as to how long my 3yr old kept attentive to the game (30 mins)
Mama said if you don't have anything nice to say don't say anything at all!!! But while i'm here........No kid would like this app!! I got to 17 on the ice-cream thing and I was going fast and then and guess what happened?!?!?! I clicked on the wrong thing and EVERYTHING started over again!!! No preschooler would want that to happen to them and if it did they'd probably burst into tears because that's hard work!
