Can you leave just one man standing?
Simple to learn, impossible to master, addictively fun - Solitaire Chess by ThinkFun is a new logic puzzle based on the rules of Chess. For chess newbies and experts alike, Solitaire Chess can be played quickly – every move must be a capture – and early challenges may seem easy, but soon you’ll find yourself in deeper waters, pushing your mind and thinking hard about your moves to try and solve the game.
HOW TO PLAY: Each challenge begins with a selection of chess pieces on a 4x4 game board. Your goal is to capture the pieces one by one until there’s only one left.
Every move must be a capture, so plan your moves wisely or you risk leaving pieces stranded!
Don't worry if you're not familiar with Chess. Hold any piece in the air to see its name and all possible moves. Within a few challenges you'll be familiar with every piece – making this a great way to get familiar with the pieces and the movement rules of Chess.
Solitaire Chess includes UNDO and RESET buttons, so don't be nervous about experimenting in the game.
There’s even a HINT button, for when you get in a real bind.

Good game! Needs a couple things.
I like this game a lot! The concept is very good, the game functions well, and I find completing the puzzles very rewarding.
Unfortunately, I find that the current hint system takes away from the satisfaction of completing the puzzles that I find harder to complete. I would rather that the puzzle doesn't complete itself for me every time I use the hint button. I feel that the hint system can be revised in a number of ways. It could highlight which piece to move first, which piece is last to fall, displaying how many times a piece needs to move to complete the puzzle, or even simply limit how many hints can be used per puzzle. If players prefer the current system, they could change it in a settings menu.
I wouldn't mind a graphical upgrade either.
Besides those two things, this is a very solid game!
This app is very well laid out and easy to use. The puzzles get very challenging as you progress through the levels. With 400 puzzles in four increasing levels of difficulty this app will keep you brain active for hours. I really love the departure from standard chess puzzles. You would think working on a 4 by 4 board would be simple, but at the higher levels it's quite challenging. It is a nice break from endgame and positional puzzles.
An outstanding game!
I bought the physical version of this game a year or two ago. It was a fantastic game but had only 60 configurations. This iPad version has 400, and the computer game is even more fun. It's enormously entertaining, provided your sufficiently intelligent. Some of these configurations will baffle even the best puzzlers and chess enthusiasts. I only hope that additional levels are released soon, as I'm almost finished!
