Great UI, fees only problem
Call me a critic but that’s what I do. I really like the way Airbnb laid out the user interface. It’s intuitive, perky, fun and easy to figure out if you’re not a mobile genius. I especially like the buttons that switches me from hosting to traveling. I’m all about using Airbnb for both, however you corporates in the city who made thing want your cake and eat it too. Might think about reading your fees a bit lest another competitor comes along to sweep your market out from under you. We’re not loyal to you, just to technology that helps us do what we want. If you have forgotten that you’ll be toast.
So here’s my suggestion. When a host gets to Superhost status why don’t you reward them? Or even create another level after Superhost, like Grand Masterhost, and cut the fees by a 1/3rd for them. After all, they’ve made a ton for you by then, no? Good service demands good software, this is true, however, don’t bend over your customers who get virtually nothing (existing coupon program is... well, less than ideal). All this to explain my four star rating instead of five. Still some work to do to keep this critic happy. Cheery-O!
Great service, app needs work
I'm a host and guest of Airbnb. Love the service.
Updates suffer from occasional severe issues that suggest a lack of proper QA. A lack of a proper changelog in updates suggests a lack of transparency in the development process.
Solution: When you fix a bug and push an update, let your customers know specifically what you fixed.
Be wary of updating this app until this changes. You have been warned.
Some examples of things I find frustrating in the current version:
Why do I have to scroll through the message history to find what reviews are necessary for me to complete instead of putting all the uncompleted reviews in one place? This must be a core use case.
A partial message is erased if I go back to review a guest's info and return to the message pane. Why not save it? My phone has gigs of storage.
Why does the calendar view default to a month ago instead of today? Why can I only see the last months bookings instead of going as far back as I want?
And surely the details tab of the calendar is more useful on a day to day basis than the calendar view. So why is it the default?
Why is the same word "Details" used for both the expanded/zoomed/daily view of the calendar and the guest's details? Unnecessarily confusing.
I booked for a 37 day stay. In the pictures the place looked clean and presentable. I arrived to check in to place and it definitely was not in a high end area as described on the listing. No parking available as described on the listing. The apartment was very clean as pictures showed but there was a window unit a/c and no a/c in the bedrooms, which are hot. The unit was in the corner of the living room and was bearly big enough to cool the living room. I am having to sleep on the couch and air b&b says they can not help that it’s not fair to the host to cut my trip stay shorter. I am forced to pay for 37 days. I can check out after a few nights and will only receive 3 days of amount back but the host has to agree to that. Entrapment at its highest level with this site! I hope you chose a better place than I. I also recommend if using site anyways to book for a short period of time to avoid losing you total amount payed.
