What's New in Version 1.2.1
Update deals with issue some users encountered after purchasing both The Christmas Trap and Angels in the Shadows.
Great game- just a few minor problems
Let me start off by saying- this game overall is great. As a Whovian, it's some of the best money I've spent on any app. For the most part, the controls are fine, and the graphics are good. I've managed to get to level 9 with minimal difficulty. However, I do have a few minor critiques. At times when the Doctor is pushing a block, he'll go just to the side of it, and won't push the block. It gets annoying when you're facing enemies and have to do things quickly. As for the fact that Amy regenerates, that doesn't really bother me- they had to find a non violent way for her to die, and that seems like the best option to me.
My main criticism isn't actually in the main game at all- its on The Christmas Trap. In one room, right after you go through a portal (in level 1) there is the sphere and 3 pressure switches- all of which you have to push down to get the spikes to go down and get the sphere into its portal. There is a block, but I can't push it onto a switch, it's against a wall. I can't get all 3 switches down at one time- I have the Dictor on one, Amy on another, and the sphere on another, but then when I push the sphere to go through the portal, it leaves it's switch and the spikes go up. I'm completley stuck. Help.
Overall though, Doctor Who: The Mazes of Time is a fantastic game. I would definatly recommend it. A well earned 5/5 stars!
For fans of the Dr. Who series, new or seasoned, you will not be disappointed with this game.
From the stunning graphics to the immersive story mode, the only question to be answered is "Why hasn't anyone done this sooner?". The game makes you feel like you're actually in the whole Dr. Who universe with it's play style, and when finished with it (which actually will take a good bit of time with the puzzles and piece collecting) it leave you in the way the television series does, wanting more.
The only minor drawback for some might be the virtual joystick used in the game. But like anything in the gaming world it just a learning curve and, for me at least, adds to the overall feel for the game.
So ladies and gents break out your wallets or purses and get this game. Your disappointment level will most certainly be zero. It's well worth it and at the price it'll be cheaper than a cold drink and a hot sandwich at your local convenience store!!!
Fun Factor: 10/10
Overall Rating: 8.5/10
A great game, but has its faults.
As a diehard Whovian, I was thrilled to get this game for only 99 cents. As a pretty in-depth game designed with the small screen of the iPhone in mind, I was not disappointed in the not so fantastic graphics. The controls take a bit of getting used to, also not a problem. The game itself is well thought out and just challenging enough. My only peeve is when the Doctor is pushing a block. Often he'll stand to the side of the block and not push it at all, or the block won't move. Also, there's a level with the Cyberman where a block is pushed next to steam, and because of this glitch with the Doctor moving blocks, he always dies when I try to push the block. I had stopped playing this game for a while because I simply cannot advance. I'm still stuck on that particular room. So while it is an excellent game for its platform, just be aware that it has its issues. Overall, I love the game and I definitely recommend it.
