Mindful displays your day's iCal events right on your desktop, underneath your icons. Your calendar will no longer by hidden away where you never see it, but laid out right where you're already looking.
Mindful's customizable interface allows you to tailor it perfectly to your working environment. You can set its transparency, which iCal calendars it shows, how much of the day you see, and more. All the while, it doesn't take up room in your dock.
What's New in Version 1.2.1
Fixed a bug with some Snow Leopard systems, where the Mindful window unexpectedly sports a title bar.
Update: Very Cool App… But! It Doesn't Work w/ Live Wallpapers. :(
I read the reviews and took a chance. It's cool… when it's there. It dissapears a lot… 90% of the time. BUT! That is because it doesn't want to stay on top of live wallpapers… I can see where that would be an unforseen issue. Otherwise, I think it's a great app. However, I'll keep my Koi Screensaver. Kois are cooler. Its not that hard to pull up my calendar… however, if it worked for me it would be great! Very cool concept. Love the way you can you can personalize the colors, resize and position wherever you please. It's worth 2 bucks. That's less than a beer.
Simple, functional and reliable. AWESOME.
I've been trying to muck around with GeekTool and other utilities trying to get a live background calendar for about a week when I saw this via LifeHacker.
This is exactly what I was trying to acheive with the bonus of a simple interface that gives me (most) of the customization I need.
My only request for features is the ability to change the font and font color. Well worth the 2 bucks for time and trouble saved. Thanks!
So far okay - needs improvements to be 4-5 stars
It's doing well what so many applications either don't/can't do - show events for the day on your desktop wallpaper and allow that desktop to be somewhat useful - either for style or for the power user.
What it needs is: either better font and cleaner design with the padding of the boxes and typography or (better) a menu option to allow your own font selection.
Would also be nice to be able to turn off the binding boxes around the time.
Those two options (if done right) would let me bump this up to 4 or 5 stars easily.
