Army of trouble
I LOVED playing this game until I "updated" it. After that, it wouldn't play at all. I had two AOD on my iPad, and NONE of them would work. They would start to load, then immediately turn off. I finally deleted both, and paid again, TWICE, (that makes 4 times), and now ONE of them works. Of course, I had to make my way all the way back to when I lost the game from updating, but now it is working, and all is well with Ash and his army again. By the way, now I am VERY wary of "updates." I have lost MANY games because I was coaxed into updating to rid games of "bugs," etc. Now one of my AngryBirds won't work...keeps turning off, same as this game. What is with that?! I have spent more money replacing "updated" games than I have on all my games put together! But: Army Of Darkness is still one of my daily games. I just REALLY wish there were more levels, characters, etc. Once you hit "endless," which happens pretty fast, there is nothing to do but collect points. MORE! Then this game would ROCK!
Good game, with limited replay value
Three stars because this is a fun and well-made game that will certainly appeal to any fan of tower defense and AoD. However, it becomes real dull real fast the moment you beat Wave 50 and only have the option of playing Endless mode. Endless mode, once all your units are strong enough, turns into a bunch of characters mashed up against the back wall, hitting at each other. Points are essentially meaningless in this game, and the previous goal of surviving the onslaught and amassing coins is replaced by standing around watching the point meter click up. I would love it if you had the option of selecting different waves to play at any point (as long as you had beaten/unlocked them), rather than binding you to play in sequence. Once the game is effectively beaten, there is no way to go back and play out more basic levels (something you can easily do in other games, e.g. Plants vs. Zombies). Endless mode is fine if it's what you like, but preventing any other kind of play once you beat the 50 waves gives the game almost no replay value.
Love the game and wish I could give a 4.5, because I have one very little complaint. So once I beat all the waves, I moved onto endless mode, which was awesome until recently. I struggled and struggled to get high scores (I think my top was 6 million) before this game. Now, all of a sudden I guess I've reached the threshold on my upgrades, where my guys are simply too powerful, and I can't get them to die if I try. I'm sitting in a game at 300M points and no one ever dies. I have so many dudes in there that the little wizard dude is able to heal them completely before any of them die. Not only that, once you have like 50 dudes (I think I have over 200 in there), the processor on the iPad starts to struggle and the game lows down drastically. Like I said, small complaint. I love this game. I don't even know what I would recommend as a fix. I guess I can rush Ash into the heart of the battle and try to die, but I can't bring myself to do it!
