Train your ears and improve your mixing skills with Quiztones, the frequency ear training app for amateur and professional audio engineers, producers and musicians.
Quiztones uses tones and frequency-altered noise and musical loops (including source material from your own music library) to train your ears and help develop more acute listening and frequency recognition skills.
• Sharpen your ears & frequency recognition skills
• Improve your mixing and EQ chops
• Prevent noise and frequency buildup in your mixes & recordings
• Eliminate the need to sweep for frequencies
Quiztones cleverly uses quizzes to engage users in training exercises. Each EQ quiz includes four trainers:
• Easy frequency boost (+10 dB)
• Hard frequency boost (+5 dB)
• Hard frequency cut (-10 dB)
• Expert frequency boost – 1/3 octave (available via Quiztones Pro in-app purchase)
New in 1.7: Train your ears to identify boost & cut between 1-16dB with our new Gain Level Comparison quizzes! These new quizzes are available via the Quiztones Pro in-app purchase.
Quizzes included in version 1.7:
• Music Library
• Pink Noise
• Strings 2
• Electric Bass
• Upright Bass
• Female Vocals
• Electric Guitar
• Acoustic Guitar
"Turns out, this app offers everything offered in that Berklee class of mine… in an app!"
- Damian Erskine, No Treble
The Quiztones app is far and away the best app I've purchased. It's an incredible tool for all audio engineers and musicians ... My mixing has improved by leaps and bounds after just a few weeks with Quiztones.

A professional Audio Engineer of 10 years, I've come across many ear training devices, blind tests, and software. This app is TOPS! Highly recommended! The developers are serious about what they do. You will not be disappointed!

What's New in Version 1.7.3
- support for 4" screens
- stability, performance and interface improvements
As others have stated, it would be nice to use a whole song from your music library instead of short clips that loop. One feature I would like to see is the ability to hear what one's wrong answer would sound like. For instance, if your doing the easy tone quizzes and it plays a 1kHz sine and one selects 2k as the answer, The button should shake or light up red and then play a 2k sine. This sort of feedback to a wrong answer would help me to better distinguish problem areas frequency wise. Another great feature would be the ability to take quizzes on individual instruments in the context of a multiple instrument mix. Also, add compression quizzes! Thanks keep up the fine appin
I honestly have no idea where these negative comments are coming from. If all you are using it for is to identify tones then you are missing the point of the app. This has done wonders for my mixing skills. Immediately Finding problematic frequencies in sources is now a no brainer. I've told everyone I know to use this bad boy. It's done great things for me.
Just a advice
The app is good and works very well, but I think if guys can put a little detail when you are answering the question why not the frequency sound like the frequency I mean the wrong answer sounds like the wrong answer I think it's a way to learn fast.
