The Official Star Trek™ PADD (Personal Access Display Device) immerses fans in a rich interactive database of Star Trek™ information and images with an authentic reproduction of the LCARS style interface introduced in the Star Trek: The Next Generation™ series.

The PADD provides access to the official Star Trek™ database from of aliens, ships, places, technologies, and episodes. The app includes a true reproduction of LCARS, the computer interface commonly used in Starfleet and the United Federation of Planets during the 24th century, and includes familiar computer sound effects and voice.

Features of the Star Trek™ PADD app include:

-Browse or search through the official database of Star Trek™ television series information, including aliens, ships, places, technologies, and episodes
-Rich, immersive LCARS graphical interface, introduced in Star Trek: The Next Generation™ television series
-Authentic computer sound effects and voice
-Jump to related information through cross-links to other content
-Read the latest news from the Star Trek™ Facebook page and Star Trek™ Twitter feed
-Enjoy two self-running diagnostic modes with an overview schematic of the U.S.S. Enterprise™ NCC-1701-D
-Voice recognition for searching (Only available on applicable devices)
-Live updates of databank content -- new entries and updated entries appear automatically

Some users have asked why sounds won't always play. This is because the app pays attention to your "mute" switch and the volume on your device. Also, if you have configured the "mute" switch to lock the rotation of your screen, you may "mute" the device in the following manner: Double-press the home button and swipe to the right until you see the visual "mute" button on the screen.

This is the official Star Trek™ app produced for CBS by ArcTouch.

Fun, but empty...

Cool idea, didn’t mind paying for it, (shouldn’t have had to pay for iPad AND iPhone apps that are identical) but the biggest complaint is the lack of info available. Way too many “Image Not Available” results that should have been updated along the way. My impression is that this app was spitballed in a meeting, but no thought was ever given to keeping it relevant.

There is a ton of useful information about this franchise, but so far, you can’t get it from this app.

Another disappointment is that I’d like to be able to click on a starship, then go exploring from the main bridge to engineering, or the shuttle bay, or the cargo bays or transporter rooms. “Image Not Available” is the result if anything. And, as others have pointed out, why not link into other sources, like the LCARS is capable of.

HELLO...IS ANYBODY OUT THERE??? Please listen...

Great potential

I love the idea of this app, but it needs to be more user friendly. Larger buttons on the iPhone version (and pretty cheap that you make people pay for iPhone and iPad versions separately!) and update to have all of Into Darkness info. (John Harrison and Admiral Marcus, for example aren't there). And update it to include Star Trek Beyond. People paid for this, but Memory Alpha had better content. Please get with it.

Needs Much More

This has so much potential, but currently feels like a quick scheme to milk loyal fans. While I appreciate all the Trek info being in one place, it would have made much more sense to have it interface with Wikipedia...then it would be more like the actual LCARS from the show. Also, a free play, demo mode with authentic sounds for button presses and screen animations would be great.
