Description

*IMPORTANT*: Not currently compatible with Mountain Lion. We are working on an update.

Tyler is a Tiling Window Manger. It automatically resizes all your windows to take up all your available screen estate.

- Save Time
Leave it to Tyler to sort, order and size your windows to fit your screen perfectly. All you have to do is tell Tyler which windows you would like to be more or less important. As a tiling window manager, it handles everything else automatically - so you can focus on your work instead of juggling windows.

- Save Space
Screen estate is more valuable than ever. Lightweight laptops allow you to take your work wherever you go. But often there just doesn't seem to be enough space on the screen for all your windows. Tyler makes sure no single pixle of space is wasted.

What's New in Version 1.3.3

Bugfixes including (but not limited to):
- Fixed identical windows swapping
- Fixed window jumping for no apparent reason
- Fixed empty slots (occasionally created by Finder windows)
- Removed verbose log messages
- Added option to disable triple click floating (hot fix)
- Fixed random crashes when switching spaces
- Fixed odd placement of full screen windows
- Fixed bug where activating the context menu moved windows

More to come soon.

Customer Reviews

I want this to work. Please make it work. Please?

As a longtime user of awesomewm, I can't tell you how overjoyed I would be to have a truly working tiling window manager for Mac OS. The native window management in Mac OS X is beyond bad for serious work. But this app is so far from the flexibility of a real tiling WM, and it has serious issues with anything more than a very basic setup (multi monitor, spaces, etc. all seem to confuse it terribly). And the updates are very infrequent, so if I find something that misbehaves I can't hope for an update anytime soon. And the website doesn't offer any sort of discussion or way to let the developers know that I would *help you however I can*, or to provide feedback outside of the App Store reviews.

There are all kinds of features missing:

- The available key binding options are too restrictive.
- There is no scripting system like in awesomewm
- The available layouts are too limited.

And there are all sorts of strange bugs:

- Moving away from a space where I have a bunch of tiled terminals, and then back to that space, the terminals are arbitrarily reoraganized.
- Using the keybindings to move between terminals causes 'C' and 'D' characters to get written in the terminals
- Windows randomly dance around. One notable one is the systems preferenes panel to manage the keyboard settings.

Too buggy to recommend

This software has promise, but it's just too buggy to recommend. I'd recommend they offer a demo so you can try it out and see if it's buggy on your system setup.

I've opened a support ticket, but haven't yet recieved a response. Turns out if you have two monitors which are different sizes, Tyler doesn't correctly work with them and will instead tile all windows on one monitor.

I'm trying to figure out how to return this purchase, but haven't yet figured out how to do so.

Great idea…. rough implementation

Tiling window managers are awesome, and Tyler is the closest you can get on OSX. However currently this is a work in progress with major bugs to be fixed as the developers state on their site. I don't understand why Apple let's apps that are not yet sable sell without warning in the App Store.
