"One of the best games on the iOS platform, hands-down." ~ iPhoneAlley
“The graphics are perfectly vibrant, and have just enough of that 16-bit era pixely-ness to them without going overboard. The original soundtrack by Flashygoodness is an excellent pairing, and the controls work great…” ~ TouchArcade
"The graphics are fun, colorful, and a treat to look at." ~ AppAdvice

Fun, but could be improved

Personally, I found the controls in this game very hard to use and get used to, but I am sure not all players will agree

The general theme and art style of this game is very appealing, but it could use some improvements. The ui style is all wrong. It should be done in a classic pixel art style to match the style of the game, but instead it's all over the place. Some of it looks modern and simple and some of it looks more like pixel art.

The pixel art style itself is also very in costing in resolution and denial density. Most art elements look great, but some of the stuff in the background look weird, and out of place and the floating gem icons appear to be a different style entirely.

The game could also use some additional story elements besides the little intro video. Without a little more story, the game gives a feeling that something is missing.

This is a fantastic retro-style game which, contrary to what some people might have you believe, is NOT at all racist. Look as an Italian-American, I could try to make the ridiculous claim that the Mario games were racist against Italians, seeing how Mario was portrayed as just another fat, mustachioed Italian. Did it bother me? No. Quit playing the race card and grow up. And by the way, what are called jumping beans are in fact indigenous to Mexico! Look it up. Where you get racism out of this game is beyond me. And by the way, I may be Italian, but I just prefer to be called an American, who, by the way cared enough about the Spanish language to study it for a year in Sevilla, Espana.

Easily one of the best iOS platformers

What makes it truly unique is it's use of 2 input controls instead of going for a virtual d-pad or tilt, instead of this making the game overly simplistic it's designed around it in the best way possible, the par jump challenges you to plan out your jumps and the collectibles are skillfully hidden both requiring you to think outside the box to obtain them. The high end colorful 16-bit style graphics are very well done and really pops on a retina iPad. The chiptune music is the kind of catchiness I expect from chiptunes, the level clear and map themes are especially addictive
