What's New in Version 3.1.1
This app in conjunction with the WD Mybook live is amazing. As a photographer it is easy for me to share my content from my iPad anywhere I am (as long as there is an internet connection established), without having to waste precious iPad memory. I bought the 3 terabyte NAS(WD) and hooked it up, gave it a name, set some permissions and I was all ready to go. I made neat folders where everything is organized and now I have access to it from anywhere. I mainly use the iPad app to show off some pictures or to download and save them to my iPad to prepare an email or something of the like, but it is not limited to that. You can also listen to music stored in your cloud, read and write documents and all sorts of other things. In a word: Great.
Works Flawlessly So Far
After purchasing the MyBookLive drive a while ago I finally got it installed. The App immediately found my drive (in my home Wifi network) and so far it has connected continuously and worked without any glitches. My only gripe would be I am not sure how to perform some functions on my iPhone as far as moving files from the Cloud. One improvement which would be nice is to see the photos as thumbnails on my phone when looking at picture files. That would make my search for a particular picture much easier. Hopefully more to come!
App is okay but cloud HW is awful
It's a nice concept but the other component to the App is the WD MyCloud. I purchased two and the management interface feels very beta and limited. They are the latest firmware but often lose network connectivity requiring a reboot. Not good for a cloud device if you have to go pull the power plug often. Further, the once a day configurable backup doesn't work well. The scheduler doesn't work so I have to manually go in and start a backup after adding important data. Since the App can't initiate that function the data is in danger until I can login to the MyCloud Device. In short, the app would be acceptable if it allowed a little more admin function and if the WD Cloud hardware wasn't so buggy.
