I Love My WD Cloud Apps

I have a 2TB My Book Live hooked up to my router and it works awesome for my home media in conjunction with my WD TV Live! With those two working together I can stream any video media file possible to my TV (MKV, AVI, MP4, M4V, MOV, XVID) you name the file type and it can play it. Previously I tried using my PS3 and Roku to stream to my TV but they can't play every file type like the WD TV Live. I know this review isn't for WD tv Live but I figured if someone has this app then they have a compatible drive so I wanted to pass that on. But then when I'm outside of my house I can connect to my My Book Live and upload, download, or stream almost any document or piece of media with the WD My Cloud app to ur device. This app can't play MKV's yet which is a little frustrating but with a 3rd Party Video App you can just download the MKV with WD My Cloud and open it with 3rd Party App.

Very good

If you are one, like me, that has many concerns about public cloud security and privacy this a great solution. I have been using for a few weeks and have had no problems. I will tell you, and WD if they are listening, that a few user interfaces could be improved. It is confusing how to overwrite existing files if they are changed/updated from another device. You have to download to your device and then save and re-upload. This creates new files and then you have to the delete the old files. I may have not learned a feature yet that allows overwrite so it could exist and I may not be doing it right. Good job and thank you to WD for developing the private cloud option. Overall if you want privacy and security in your cloud this is your answer!

Wonderful

This app in conjunction with the WD Mybook live is amazing. As a photographer it is easy for me to share my content from my iPad anywhere I am (as long as there is an internet connection established), without having to waste precious iPad memory. I bought the 3 terabyte NAS(WD) and hooked it up, gave it a name, set some permissions and I was all ready to go. I made neat folders where everything is organized and now I have access to it from anywhere. I mainly use the iPad app to show off some pictures or to download and save them to my iPad to prepare an email or something of the like, but it is not limited to that. You can also listen to music stored in your cloud, read and write documents and all sorts of other things. In a word: Great.
