Instantly reach the people in your life—for free. Messenger is just like texting, but you don't have to pay for every message (it works with your data plan).
Not just for Facebook friends: Message people in your phone book and just enter a phone number to add a new contact.
Group chats: Create groups for the people you message most. Name them, set group photos and keep them all in one place.
Photos and videos: Shoot videos and snap selfies or other photos right from the app and send them with one tap.
Free calls: Talk as long as you want, even with people in other countries. (Calls are free over Wi-Fi. Otherwise, standard data charges apply.)
Even more ways to message:
Bring your conversations to life with stickers.
Preview your camera roll photos and videos without leaving the conversation--then choose the perfect ones to send.
Record voice messages when you have more to say.
Know when people have seen your messages.
Forward messages or photos to people who weren't in the conversation.
Search for people and groups to quickly get back to them.
Turn on location to let people know when you're nearby.
See who's available on Messenger and who's active on Facebook.
Turn off notifications when you're working, sleeping or just need a break.
Stay logged in so you never miss a message.
Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. Messenger uses location data to make features work, help people connect and more.

Still... video viewing within the app needs work
I think the app is great. I have no problem using two apps to manage my Facebook feed or messaging someone. I have two issues with the application, when someone sends me a video through messenger I have to fight with it to get it in full screen. Once I get it to full screen, if I turn the phone to landscape mode, it stops the video and puts me right back within the messages which then I have to select the video once again to start it back up. The other thing that bothers me is that I cannot forward or reverse a video or start from any point that I would like to choose from. If I missed something I have to wait till the full video is done before I am allowed to start at beginning of the video. You had this fix in the last version and then you broke it again. So for now I will only give you one star until you can fix the app.
Yes I love the mobile Facebook messenger.
But wondering if you will be going back to a blue notification when a message comes in instead of black? Like the blue better .
And also wondering if there's a way to get into other type of messages on the mobile site Mike archived conversations? Or if there's going to be something in the future to make it easier to get into the archived conversations. On the mobile app.
And wondering if that camera feature is going to go as an option??
And lately when I have gone to open up messages to send to people conversations that I have talk to people before it shows me that there is no messages there and it is totally blank and it doesn't matter and who it is but when I go to send the message the whole message pops up like it wasn't even gone.
But I would like to report, but I've had to uninstall the Messenger app and reinstall it multiple times, because when I go to send somebody a message or get into messages my screen goes completely black and shuts down the Facebook messenger app.
Download too big
I love using messenger for business, home, and groups of friends, and calls couldn't be any clearer! The only problem I have is the download file, right along with updates is too big! I own a 5 gigabyte iPhone 5c, which that amount of memory is not enough for the apps that I need plus updates. Messenger is by far the app that uses so much of my phones memory. It would be such a pleasure of the team over at Facebook could take off some features of messenger that users don't use much, or compress the download somehow, etc.
