Ruined my son’s sleep schedule
We started watching and listening to this at bedtime, and were soon so engrossed that we stayed through to the end. A beautiful story, with a lovely and creative presentation.
It is truly uplifting to think of how much we can accomplish, even in the face of adversity.
My son adds: “It’s kind of depressing how it crashes in a fiery wreck towards the end.”
A very moving story. 5 stars for even making me feel sorry for it :D . Love the art
A Blazing Star That Filled the World With Hope
I never new that a hunk of space metal could bring about so many “feels”. I honestly picked this title up only because it’s premise seemed so far-fetched. What I thought I was getting was a meager attempt at making learning interesting. But instead, I got a 10-chapter tale that filled my heart with warmth and hope.
AS A STORY (NO SPOILERS):
The tale started out quite slow for me. I did have a hard time going through the first 1.5 chapters. But by the 3rd chapter i ended up marathoning it to the end. The story itself is masterfully spun together with the sensibilities of a storyteller. And needless to say, the music really added to that as well. But what was cool was that though they were telling a story, they did not neglect the facts and figures. in fact, they integrated them into the tale in such a natural way. One thing I can say, I thought this was just going to be another “kiddie edutainment” thing…I was dead wrong. This is a full-on serious drama with all the trappings of maturity.
PERSONIFiCATION OF HAYABUSA AND MINERVA:
This was such a good move on the part of the writers and developers of this Visual Novel. Most of us do not have the opportunity to work for NASA, JAXA, or any other space/aeronautical institution. So, it goes without saying that most of us would not be able to directly relate to the stresses, uncertainties, struggles, and victories of that career field. However, by personifying Hayabusa and Minerva and the banter between them and the JAXA team overseeing their creation and mission progress, it really helped me to connect with their battle at a much more emotional level. That’s saying a lot since these space exploration things don’t interest me as much as they do others. It simply helped me to better understand them and their struggles.
One thing I greatly appreciated was that the developers/writers were aware of the audience and showed respect. What I mean is they realized that many of their readers would most likely not be familiar with the jargon of that field. So they provided in depth explanations for the technical terms and concepts. BUT THEY TOOK IT A STEP FURTHER. they made it so you never had to go to the Main Title page to open some “dictionary". All you had to do was tap on the highlighted word and then they explained it to you…and when it finished, you went straight back to the story where you left off.
when you finish the tale, you are given access to the illustration gallery, PV, and background music player.
ALL IN ALL:
This was a professionally crafted narrative that was told with much love and care. You could feel it as you progressed through the tale. What’s more, it reminded you of how radiant courageous ambition can be…and the power of working together. In the end, I left the tale with a hope and warmth in my heart. The experience was akin to what I felt when I read “The Velveteen Rabbit". In the end, what I thought was going to be a joke-purchase turned out to be a most profound and uplifting experience!
