Fun and educational
This is a very fun program to work with. You might look at the interfaces and think otherwise but look at some of the graphics that you can do with it and you will see that there's a large range of things that can be done.
RuleModel warns that you should read the instructions first. When I see something like that it's an automatic dare not to read the instructions. Initially things were hit or miss but with a couple of passes it became very easy to get interesting looking graphics that would look well on their own or within other graphic ideas that you come up with. That said, it is worth reading the end instructions. It opens up a fuller understanding of what you're doing and makes hit or miss become less necessary.
The whole idea of using formulaic modeling to make art has always been of interest to me. RuleModel offers a computer programming language As well as an icon-based programming set. Both are entertaining and creative in their own right.
If you enjoy working outside the bounds of traditional creative thinking RuleModel is definitely something you should consider trying. At it's very reasonable price it isn't much of a loss if you don't enjoy RuleModel although there is much to find here that is useful and enjoyable.
You can make some beautiful things with this.
