* THE SCIENCE BEHIND MINDSNACKS *

At MindSnacks we like to keep it fun, but we’re serious about learning. That’s why our German app includes 9 challenging games designed by Ivy League professors. Each game teaches a specific aspect of the language, creating a well-rounded learning experience for both kids and adults that goes far beyond basic vocabulary flashcards.

Of course studying is only worth it if it works, so our unique algorithm reinforces the learning process using proven methods from the field of memory studies. Over time, the games adapt to your individual performance, selectively repeating German words, phrases and grammatical points with which you’ve previously struggled. In other words, as you learn German, the app learns about you for a more effective learning experience.

Perfect for beginning and intermediate learners, MindSnacks is like your own personal German teacher you can take just about anywhere . You’ll quickly spend less time looking at that German dictionary and more time planning that trip to Berlin.

Fun but could use improvement

Games that are time dependent start out painful slow and then speed up to insanely fast way to quickly. There's only a short time span of optimal speed. And timeless/endless mode would drastically improved the functionality of these games and also enable my 5 year old to play more games then just belly.
It also awards xp/ word mastery way too quickly. I downloaded it yesterday I think I've finished 5 lessons. The words I didn't already know are definitely not master after that short time frame it gave for lessons and I've spent just as much in review mode. This is slightly made up for by the fact you can rest individual lessons in settings instead of having to reset the whole game.
I wish that 'the' was displayed with each noun but when it's not it is spoken after you match. So it's at least there's that.
I'm kind of upset that it give the option for multiple users and then Requires each person to pay to unlock the app :/ the other people in my house can just play in review mode.
I'd buy it again but it could use a few upgrades.

Fun but needs some work

I loved to play this because it taught me German in a fun way. Because of this I know more so it makes it a little easier to understand some of my family members that speak only German.
But just today when I tried to get on it said that I couldn’t because it needed an update. Well I tried to update it but it didn’t work all because it doesn’t work on my type apple system. Now it is taking up space and is no use to me.

Language learning game

I like playing games to help reinforce learning vocabulary. The games makes it easier for my child to want to learn too. My issue regarding some of the games I've unlocked is how fast the games speed up. So far the easiest game to play is Belly. The water in Swell drains so fast that my kid doesn't want to play it and I find Swell more frustrating than fun for the same reason. I recently started conversation words and the time I get to spell in bird doesn't seem to increase. Bloon is okay. I use it more to keep me from panicking when there are so many balloons it becomes overwhelming, but my kid doesn't enjoy that one. I've only ever played Slide a couple of times because the game ends too fast. Today a conversation game with a parrot popped up and I enjoyed it except for the fact that it was difficult to control the up and down motion of the parrot.
It would be nice if the games had better user control and maybe a way to make difficulty easier or more challenging based on individual preference in settings.
