Old version was 5* but dead w/ iOS 11. :(
Update late Dec 2017 back up to 4 *. Added back webcams and no popup ads. Ad bar at top can ignored but will click if something interesting, would still prefer the old style opening screen that quit at ios11. See difference below.
Update Dec path 2017. - if only another app could access individual weather stations - latest “update” removes webcams & adds $&*#@$ video talking commercials!
Old review. sept 2017. App is nice & pretty & powerful , but not nearly as easy to use for basic info as pre IOS 11 version which was 5*.
For instance with old version it opens immediately to all of the little icons showing temperatures wherever you are including your location if that is what is set up. From there you can scroll to other places in the world and look or immediately click on any icon with the temperature to see the local conditions. Also you can click from that screen back to your location or click the starred locations on the main screen to go to cities you have set up previously. This is all most people want to do and it takes many more steps with the new version.
Honestly, most reliable weather app I’ve ever used
This is by far the most accurate & reliable weather app I’ve found for IOS - and I’ve spent tons of time and $$$ on my quest to find a weather app that met my stringent criteria for accurate reliability.
One thing, tho: It would be great, in an ideal world with tons of time & $$$, to have more up-to-date precautionary info to compliment the AWS statements. The AWS statements/precautionary guidelines for some weather circumstances are somewhat outdated (e.g., advise to use headlights during heavy fog, yet most car models on the roads are also equipped with fog-lights specifically designed to illuminate the users’ paths without adding further pollution to the users’ lines of sight).
Full-screen ads + new bugs = delete
Often hangs when trying to exit map view, requiring force quit. Current reported temperatures and graph get out-of-sync in an odd way that didn't happen in older versions, making it unclear which widget is reporting the real current temperature (have seen this in multiple cities, so it's not a problem with a particular station).
Have used Wunderground for years and the ads never bothered me before. I've even intentionally clicked on ads for products that weren't crappy iOS games. Have thought well of the company and have also considered subscribing. Now, with the full-screen ads plus video/animation (wasting my home as well as mobile data due to caps) i feel anger/disgust every time. Apple's weather reporting for my area is much better than it used to be, so i find myself using the Apple apps and avoiding Wunderground.
