Brink of Consciousness: Dorian Gray Syndrome

PERFECT!!!! Perfectly done... For those developers out there, please develop more games like this one. I've been playing these mystery HO/adventure games for over a year now. Purchased close to every HO/adventure game from mostly Big Fish and G5 Entertainment and I have to say this gets major BIG thumb up from me.
Psychotically twisted
Beautiful graphics
Great story line (kinda twisted like the classic horror fiction novel Portrait of Dorian Gray)
Back button for every scene - excellent for those times you accidentally exit out of a scene because the item you need is right near the exit area.
Love the close up scene and having the background scene blacked out so you may focus on solving the close up scene.
No zoom in/out in HO scenes- even though the graphics are excellent, the 40+ age group gamers with poor eye sight will encounter some difficulties on certain requested items.
Inventory items are described and labeled when you tap on it. Always a good idea.
Characters are very well acted out in this game. Totally will get your interest and attention.
Missing Diary/Journal button. Would be helpful for newspapers/letters reference purposes.

Very, very good game

What I liked:
- Huge playing field, must be 75 separate places.
- Graphics were top notch. No zoom, but certainly not needed in this case.
- Music fits the play.
- Map gives you desperately needed help navigating the vast expanse of places to explore.
- Voice work was excellent.
- The developers really put their heart into this game and it shows.

What I didn't like:
- Huge playing field means LOTS of traipsing back and forth. And although the map is useful, you can't use it to navigate directly. Additionally, each scene only has 1 or 2 things in it, so there's no real exploring of a room, it's just moving to the next one.
- No ability to play on an advanced mode. In the HOS, they have clever combinations of items needed, but you don't get to figure it out yourself, because everything automatically sparkles.
- Help system is not that helpful.
- Puzzles are in some case tiny, not using for some reason the entire screen. This can make operating the puzzle rather fiddly.

Overall a gorgeous, grand game that delivers a great experience. Yet, the fact that there were so few things to do in each room made me feel it was more of a display of graphics ability, than a true exploring adventure.

Outstanding design & great story -

Fantastically creepy design and great story and voice talent distinguish this superior title. The "old dark house" over which the madman presides in this tale feels like a death maze, not a series of disjointed environments rehashed from old titles.

I congratulate all involved in the design, production animation music and story layout!

A special commendation: often it feel like game companies scrimp on voice talent, hire non-professionals or simple press-gang someone already on the payroll into service. It ruins some good games. These producers see that it matters! Why do everything else right and drop the ball on performance. The lead actor playing Oscar the villain in this title does a fine job and enhances the game play. Can't say if he's a pro or not, but he sounds like one.

One small annoyance: the game requires a lot of "shoe leather", getting to clues and puzzles. Unless I missed it, the map does not allow shortcuts. Some location shifts require 8 to 12 moves. That's not too burdensome in early game play, but deeper in when the plot thickens, it's a major drag. Would it be tough to fix?
