Nice but not quite there
I love having the ability to go on Steam from my phone without going on my phone internet browser. But this is another instance of an app that do most but not all what the service usually let you do (like ebay app). I use it but always end up having to go on a browser to complete a task. Like for example, you browse game details but you can't see the user review for the game from the ios app. Frustrating. Then you browse for screenshot and maximize one, but you can't continu looking atthe other screeshot because you're stuck on that one until you go back like if you were on Netscape in 1998. Also, you're happily adding game to your cart but not only does the steam apps cart doesn't seem to be linked to your regula rsteam cart (game carted on ios doesn't show on your regular steam client), but many game can't be purchased fron the ios app. You see a discounted game you'd like to buy but the sale will be over in 5 min? Too bad, maybe that game won't have the add to cart button because a message tell you that this particular one can't be bought on the mobile apps. So, to sum it all, it work and convenient, but you still have to go back and forth between your regular steam client and the mobile app. A bit frustrating sometime.
Pretty decent. Definitely needed.
I've been waiting for a Steam "App" since I got my first iPod touch probably 4/5 years ago! I'm extremely grateful they made one at all, it's quite late seeing as I lost connection with most my steam friends after my
lappy died and left me computer-less for over a year. But it's better late than never I suppose.
It would really be fantastic if you guys could integrate Trading and the Marketplace!
That usually takes a lot from my gaming time, so being away and able to trade would make life so much easier and productive!
Also I feel like Greenlight and the forums would thrive with mobile support. If you guys could tweak some of the issues the store currently had with purchasing things and adding games to the wish list that'd be great! :D
The app works great! Don't let any review tell you otherwise. The reason Steam is only rated 3.5 stars is because "GAMERS ARE HARD-IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE!!!" If you don't believe me, go look reviews for the top Xbox 360 games:Blackops 2, Halo 4, etc.... These games sold great and did well, but gamers still ranted about how bad they were even after they Master Prestiged and what not.
Very very VERY few games ever perfectly meet gamers expectations. Those games are either the first ones in a series(call of duty 4), or just got lucky because it's so new it seems like its never been done before(gta 5). Like Titanfall will be massive hit, but then its successives hits will each get lower and lower ratings no matter how perfect it may be.
