ZotPad is an iPad/iPhone client for Zotero reference management software. The purpose of ZotPad is to allow accessing Zotero libraries from mobile devices. The software provides read and write access to Zotero files stored on the Zotero server, WebDAV server, or Dropbox and supports adding notes and tags to your items.
ZotPad contains a basic file reader that can be used to open the most common file types and can send attachment files by email. Annotation workflow can be easily set up with third-party PDF annotating software.
The app comes with an in-app user guide and support features.
What's New in Version 1.2.15
- Fixes an issue that caused the app to crash when running on iOS 7
- Fixes an issue that sometimes prevented automatic cacheing of active items
- Fixes an issue that caused Dropbox connection to crash when synchronising large libraries
- Reseting username will now force a new login instead of just creating a new API key
Okay app, needs performance upgrade
I've been waiting a while for a decent Zotero app that I can use on the road, and this app has great potential. Its layout integrates Zotero nicely into iOS without sacrificing many of the database functions. The main problem is loading speeds. Granted, my libraries are enormous, but even when I set up ZotPad to cache active library collections only, it takes way too long to be useful. And I'm on a fast wireless connection. If the speed improves with later versions, I'll be mostly satisfied.
Another minor thing: it'd be nice if the URL field in item details would function as an active hyperlink. As it works now, you need to copy & paste the link into the internet browser. Inconvenient.
As of today's version, I have access to all my organized collection folders, and can open or even email my PDFs!
Even my group libraries are there. I've been waiting years for this! And would gladly have paid more for it too...
Right idea, very buggy
This app is designed for just the right things- reading and taking notes on references already stored in Zotero. Unfortunately, it's so buggy as to be almost useless. Modifying or adding a tag will almost surely cause the app to crash. Sometimes it won't even open. The frustrating thing is I would gladly pay for an app that actually did what this one promises to do. It just doesn't seem such a thing exists.
