Great before the gimmicks
Prior to this last release this was a top notch 5 star game. The addition of gold, ink and extra time puts this squarely in the "trying too hard" camp. I loved the old version of the game because I played people all over the world on an even playing field. My opponent and I had the same board, the same amount of time and it was a sheer battle of wits. The addition of levels is baffling- I prefer the ratings and have no idea what"leveling up" even means. The gold is used for what? Ink is used to cheat for extra time? All of this leads to a messy user interface with many more options for what I essentially consider cheating.
Were I able to go back to the previous revision I would.
All that said, when the match is fair, the game is a lot of fun. Consider offering a streamlined version for those of us who don't want all this nonsense and just want to play boggle with scrabble tiles.
Also note that I left scramble with friends for Ruzzle because Ruzzle didn't have all the cheating stuff (extra time, hints etc. ) now that Ruzzle is going toward gadgets that sully the game play also, I am deeply saddened.
Great game before the ink gold and levels. Still good. Just not as good.
Great game with several annoying issues
Probably my favorite iOS game. Extremely fun and can get rather competitive. The recent update that adds tournaments is a cool addition. Unfortunately however, winning the tournaments seems to rely rather heavily on either luck or having a lot of money to spend on coins to refill you're ink, which in turn can be used to buy "boosters." Boosters are power ups that make it easier to get higher scores, and while interesting, they just sort of break the competitive feel of tournaments. It also doesn't help that the letter board for each round is randomized, meaning you'll have to play for a while before you get a decent board to use. So, yeah, tournaments are kind of broken. However, all of these things only apply to tournaments, so the core 1 on 1 modes that have always been apart of Ruzzle are still great. Although I've spent a lot of time complaining, the good far out ways the bad in this game. I just hope these issues will get fixed sooner or later.
RUZZLE iPad game
I have only been playing a few months but find the game addicting. It is fast paced so easy to play when you have a few minutes in your schedule. Love the new features that were just added. Also found the valentines fun, for a short while, the chat feature is nice as well. I like that you can now earn rewards by playing that will allow you to learn more about your own play and improve your game. It would be great if they could add a pause feature (hiding the board of course) for those unexpected demands that can't wait two minutes! I have not experienced any glitches on the iPad. I absolutely hate the ads you are forced to watch for many seconds... Annoying enough I considered quitting the game. They are less frequent now. Wish they would be gone for good! An improved option might be to allow a random opponent at your own level of play. Give the game a try. You might get addicted as well!
