Finally Works

I've tried quite a few sites and apps similar to this in the past. Mint, Yodlee, even Personal Capital before. They never seemed to get the job done before. Some accounts wouldn't sync right, things would be buggy, etc. The current version still isn't 100% perfect, but it's really close. I have one mortgage that shows up as a general loan (lumped in with student loans and such instead of the other mortgages I have), but it still syncs and gives the right balance, so that's pretty minor. The current version syncs multiple brokerage accounts, 401Ks, bank accounts, mortgages, student loans, and credit cards. It shows transactions, interest rates, payments, and my personal favorite - it shows pretty strong and relevant investing information including the return of my investments as a whole (across all investment accounts) versus the returns of the large indexes and also shows the allocation and of my investments (again, aggregating all accounts) and makes recommendations on how to balance my portfolio to improve risk-adjusted returns. And the financial advice they are giving seems to be very solid from the parts that I've read. They offer to manage your investments for you for a reasonable fee if you choose to do that (I still manage my own though and continue to use this app for free). This is a fantastic tool! Thanks for developing it!!

Best Financial App for Me

This is the best app I've used for tracking my overall finances from a cast that includes Quicken, Quickbooks, MYOB, YNAB, Banktivity and many more. It is not a budgeting tool per se, in the sense of a household budget monitor, but it gives me more useful information in a quick capsule form, than any other app without the tedium inherent in trying to manage every cent. For an practical investor who is not obsessed with markets and movements, this is the right combination of ease of use, relevance, and utility. As with other reviewers I have experienced connection difficulties with financial institutions for downloading data, but I have found that the difficulties tend to come from the institutions. I have no problems connecting with mutual fund companies. I have virtually no problems with my commercial bank, but lots of problems with my the bank for my personal accounts. Overall, I think this app does a better job than most. At least when I do run into a connection problem, it has generally been easy to fix, which has not been the case with other apps.

Wrong account values showing and no support

I was a huge fan of personal capital, and used the service for managing net-worth and investments for the last two years. The app is easy to use but it is completely unreliable for aggregating data from banks and investment holdings. It routinely freaks out and shows completely random values in investment accounts like E*TRADE and Fidelity. Or simply stops being able to communicate with the accounts. There is no way to manually adjust values so when it breaks your historical data is completely screwed. Mint has no issue reporting the correct aggregated data btw. Worse the support at personal capital doesn't exist either, I have submitted multiple tickets to have them try and fix these account aggregation issues and have not heard anything in over four weeks. I was previously considering using personal capital for investment management, but based on my current experiences I would not recommend them for money management services since it would be impossible to confirm if they are providing you the right information in the first place or get support when there is a problem.
