The text styling gesture is genius—the rest, not so much

So the text styling gestures are absolutely genius—I wish this would be adopted across iOS, because it's far easier to style with a swipe than it is to select, wait for pop-up menu (or find the button somewhere on screen), tap again and again and maybe again.

The rest of this app is a joke.

No iPad/iPhone sync. No real way of getting any of the text notes out of Paper (no Mac or web app, no standard data syncing or provision for any services).

The iPad only operates in landscape mode. No portrait mode drawing or note taking... but it gets worse - if you want to use your iPad to take notes and use the on-screen keyboard, you feel like you're using one of those old school word processors that had the tiny 2-line display above the keyboard because of the HUGE font sizes—that you are stuck with— and the big landscape iPad keyboard that takes up half the vertical space on screen, have fun. But don't think you can just rotate into portrait mode and return to sanity and more than 2 lines of text... because Paper on iPad doesn't let you use it in portrait orientation. Nope. Nada. Landscape or die!

What happened?

I love the tools and features, but I can't smudge with my Apple Pencil?? I used to use my finger but that does not work. How do I change that?

I can only give it one star.... for what it is.

Back in early 2016 I got this app, thinking it would finally be my answer to looking for a good drawing pad. I opened the app, signed up, and it worked great! Until I had to do a factory reset on my iPad..... I re downloaded the app, hoping that all my old drawings would be there, but I logged in and it was just a light blue screen. Since this seemed to be a pretty good app, I thought I'd let it load. It sat there for about 30 minutes until I checked on it only to find that nothing had happened. I deleted it and re downloaded it again, and again, and again, only to get the same results... it's been like this for about three months now, considering it's now 2017. I don't know if there was a bad update to it as of right now, but I don't recommend wasting your time.
