What's New in Version 1.6.2
- Dots now start smaller, and work better with handwriting.
- Line widths on the Draw tool are improved on non-retina devices.
- General spring cleaning.
If you like Paper, please take the time to give us a good review; it makes us feel great, and helps more than you'd probably imagine.
Simply Phenomenal - Both Paper and Pencil
"Reviews"? Where you're going... you won't need "reviews"... This app could have cost 10 times the price and I still would have made the purchase.
Save yourself the time of reading the countless stellar reviews and just download it - you will not be disappointed. Elegant design, uber-functional UI (user interface), and I can't even begin to detail how positive my experience was with FiftyThree's customer service has been - I had the pleasure of an entertaining exchange with the customer service staff via email about replacement parts for my Pencil due to my obscene use of the device which has become indispensable to me. I'm awestruck - love the way it writes and draws! I use both Paper and the Pencil stylus which I purchased via the website. - I scored the walnut one which is an absolute joy to use. I now use my Jot stylus to prop up the left side of my cable box which is missing a little rubber bumper and used to lean to the side a bit... I'll probably never use it again for its actual intended purpose now that I have the Pencil Stylus. To the Team at FiftyThree - Great job on the products... You've set the bar pretty high.... Please keep it up....
Lots of Potential, But...
This app is really neat, the ink and paint acts and blends very realistically. The rewind tool is inventive and easily accessible, however it can be touchy at times. In addition, the option to print all of your work into a physical book with the cover of your choosing was very nice. The color tool is by far my favorite part of the app, well worth the purchase.
However, the lack of layers is almost a deal breaker! Please add layers! Beyond that, there are only a few other small gripes I have with the app such as variable tool and maybe a few more tools like chalk, airbrush and paint(watercolor is really nice, but it’s hard to beat good ole fashioned paint). The other bit is that compared to other professional apps with all the bells and whistles, this app is overpriced. This app is $8.98 for all the tools. Procreate and Sketchbook are $5.99 and $4.99 respectively, and are arguably better than this application. The price alone costed this app nearly two stars!
Is this app worth getting? Maybe? It still has room to grow and hopefully the developers at 53 become more proactive. I have ordered the Pencil 53, this may change the whole experience and I will update my review afterwards.
Wonderful Product; notebooks cannot be moved
I used Paper all the time, bought the complete set of tools and also bought Pencil. Why 3 and not 5 stars? You can't move a book of drawings from one iPad to another. I got a second iPad and Paper's web site instructs me to restore the new iPad from the backup image of the old! Imagine, for example, that the only way to get photos from one iPad to another would be to back up the first and restore that entire backup onto your second iPad, deleting everything already there! Here, a single app instructs you to perform a system-level configuration, which affects every single thing on your iPad and which you may not want to do, just to move their drawings between devices. Forget iCloud - even a clunky export/import function would be fine but even that doesn't exist.
This is very frustrating and, frankly, very beta-ish. Trapping data on a single device is not ready for prime time.
I would have given Paper 5 stars if I never got a second iPad. Please add this as a feature and I will give you your 2 stars back.
