Open the Mac App Store to buy and download apps.
Font picker is a simple application that lets you browse the installed fonts on your computer and then narrow down that selection till you find the perfect font for your design project.
Click on the sample text to change it to your chosen text. Remove fonts you don’t like, or select the ones you do and crop to show only those fonts.
Once you’ve narrowed down your selection you can:
◆ Save your font list for later
◆ Print your font list
◆ Export as PDF
◆ Copy and paste into an application that accepts copied rich text
What's New in Version 1.31
Fixed crash that happened when user removed many fonts quickly.
This app cuts my font-picking time in half (at least). It's super easy to use, does what it says, and works every time.
The one small negative, to me, is that you can't categorize your fonts first. It would be nice to be able to view only sans serif, Christimas, or calligraphy fonts, for example.
On the whole, still totally earns 5 starts from me. Thanks for a great app!
Great idea, very poor execution
This app frequently crashes. When this happens and you relaunch it, your progress since you last saved it has been lost.
Open a saved file, and the window title is just “Font Picker” instead of the file you’ve opened. This is confusing. Save the file again, and it prompts you to give a file name and location where to save it, instead of recognizing that you’re saving a file you’ve already opened — save the same file and it will ask if you’d like to replace the old version. Of course you want to — you’re trying to save your progress. Very annoying. Mac apps should be better than this.
How did I ever get by without this?!
I have hundreds of fonts on my Mac. This helps me sift through them SO MUCH faster than what I was doing before.
TIP: Select a font you like; then push shift and click on another to select a second one. Lather, rinse, repeat. Then click "crop" to get rid of the rest. So simple! So elegant!
Thank you, Richard Garside! Big hug!
