Fast, nice presentation, but with a couple problems???
I've had this news app for two days now, but I have been news-less for a good eight days, since my last news app died with google reader, so I have been reading heavily the last couple of days... I loved the fact that I could read already-downloaded items without Internet connection, something I couldn't do with my last news feeder app. I like how fast the app opens. I like the presentation: pleasant to the eye. But I have found a couple factors that I really am aggravated with.
1. I cannot seem to find settings!! I looked in my actual settings app that is on iPhone, but there isn't much there. And I cannot find any settings icon within the news app either.
2. I cannot hold my finger over a word to get define or copy options. When I am reading wordy articles, I dearly love my define capability. Very aggravating.
3. I can't share articles except thru Facebook??? I don't have Facebook so that doesn't work too well. I like to pass on good articles, of course. Anyone have any help?
Does the paid version have these amenities? Feedback would be helpful!
I do not believe the other reviews. This app does not work. First I add about 15 feeds from their list and it was working properly. Then I started to add feed URL s. I add 11 URLs and it did not say anything about limitation. Then I decided to cancel some of the feed which I chose from their list and I learned that there is 10-feed limitation and if I want to add more than 10 I need to buy the PRO version. It was strange because I've already add more than 10 and they were working. Anyway I thought that that was a bug, that can happen and I deleted all the feeds I choose from their list. There were only 11 which I added from URLs. Today morning I realize that I can see only 6 of that 11. Rest are gone but also there are 5 Australia news feed in my list. I am not even living in Australia. I deleted that news feeds and my lists (which consists only 6 feed address). The news disappeared but my list did not. I returned to adding screen and all 11 choices of mine were there but there is no name on any of the line. This is crazy. There are good apps, go download them not this.
Some parts are not functional
I like the idea. But it tries to lock you up if you accidentally hit Twitter or Facebook. Once you do that. You can not reverse yourself and go back and see the entire article. It will to show the entire article until you complete sending it to Facebook And there is no way to email most of the articles to friends
So, Flipboard remains a Better option. It got the software right. Easy to email articles and to see what you want to see.
Did the writers test this app? It wasn't hard to get it locked up as described above and cause much frustration.
