Description

"Band Together is a fantastic game to play. It is super cool. People are going to love it!"
-- David Lynch, Director

Thank you SO MUCH to our early supporters!!

Band Together is an addictive micro-platformer with single screen puzzles for the iPad 2 and the New iPad featuring gorgeous Retina graphics! It was developed by a team of three students overseen by Dave Taylor ("Doom", "Quake", "Abuse", "Karateka"). Art direction and overall game design was provided by John Chalfant, best known for his stunning characters in the WarCraft 3 trailers, his design work on Arthas (the "Lich King") for World of WarCraft, for his many collaborations with David Lynch, and most recently for the iconic key art used to promote "Batman: Arkham City".

"Band Together is like Little Big Planet meets Lemmings...but with thumbtack death machines! How cool is THAT?"
-- Duane Stinnett, Art Director on Starcraft and Diablo

"As an aficionado of the cute and twisted, I love the art direction of Band Together."
-- Lorne Lanning, Creative Director of the Oddworld Quintology

"The characters are 'cuddly' but in a very sophisticated way, and the thumbtack 'nemesis' element is brilliant, not just clever. The shading, the overall ambience is thoroughly conducive in complimenting the overall 'story' base of creatures under threat. Kudos."
-- Syd Mead, Designer

"Countless times I've witnessed people get transfixed and mesmerized by Band Together (myself included). I'm impressed that students were able to craft a game so engaging and addictive."
-- Mike L. Murphy, Animator, Lord of the Rings

The Backstory:

Michael Silverstein is nicknamed "Midge" by the mean kids in school because he has tiny, tiny hands. Frustrated, Midge retreats to his Great Aunt's attic, where he makes things with his tiny hands that no one else can.

While digging through the bowels of the attic, Midge finds an old, dusty shoebox. Inside are curious little creatures fast asleep. When exposed to the light, they all wake up and stare at Midge's tiny hands like they're the hands of God.

Midge quickly takes a shine to the little creatures and decides to call them "Bandies" because they seem to like to band together. While they don't say much, Midge eventually discovers that the Bandies are pining to be "tested", so he begins to build a series of diabolical tests to push the mysterious little Bandies to their limits!

The Game:

Welcome to "Band Together: The Unboxing" for the iPad 2 and new iPad. Simply touch a Bandi, and drag him where you want to go. Remember to keep all your Bandies well lit so they don't fall asleep, and steer clear of thumbtack death machines, pencil pit traps, baseball boulders, and more. Figure out how to reach the popsicle stick pressure plates and miniature switches that open the trapdoors, retract the pencil walls, and move up the platforms that will get the bandies to the exit. Part puzzle game, part adventure- all painfully cute fun for your iPad 2 and the new iPad!

Game Features:

o Dozens of engaging levels with a gentle learning curve!
o Watch the story unfold in Midge's hand-drawn secret journal!
o Skip the levels that you aren't ready for and return to them later!
o See how many Bandies you can save on each level!
o Thoroughly tested on children aged 4 to 100! No kidding!
o No blood, no gore, but strangely satisfying anyway!

Special Platform Features:

o Gorgeous, ultra-high-definition graphics for the New iPad!
o High-definition graphics for the iPad 2!
o Super broken and slow on the original iPad! Please don't buy it for that!

Really fun

This game is really fun to play and def mesmerizing I was just playing for like a half hour an I just got the thing :) but everyone seems like they don't like the fact that there is only 30 levels I haven't finished the game so I hope it last long it's so cute to play I want to have some little bandies of my own :) I love the art work and the way you play the game oh technology :) so glad I got this for free :) hopefully they will make more levels for an upgrade :)

Update :)
So I installed the game this morning an finished playing this afternoon :) that's not bad some of the levels were really hard an others were really sad as in the fact that the poor little bandies had to die or be left behind :( sooooo sad :( I did not like those levels and that kid is one morbid little beast!!! He needs counseling :/ some one get him so gloves or something the morbid little beastie :p ne ways I realllllly liked this game not so much the levels where bandies died but al in all a very enjoyable game my 4 year old can even play some of the easier levels on his own :) can't wait for the next installment you can find out what that is when you beat the game :)

Eye-candy for the twisted?

This game provides a small addiction when you first start out with the early levels. Then as the levels progress you find yourself 'stuck' to it! The levels do get a little challenging as you move forward, but I had no trouble solving most of them.

The graphics are eye-candy level, meaning they are well done. The game itself is innovative in the creation of the 'bandies' and the death machines they have to deal with. The tool for the styrofoam was very creatively explained!

I enjoy games like this that show a flair for creativity, and put a new light on something that is, for most, everyday material. I also enjoy something as well made, graphically, as this game is. The biggest feature about this game that I like is the ability to skip a level if you do not solve it right. This gives the player the option to come back to a level that stumps them later on.

All said, I'm almost sorry I caught this during a "Free for a Limited Time only." I would like to give my props to the creator and definite thumbs up. Paying for this game would be well-deserved.

Fun, inventive, and rather cute.

Fun, inventive, and rather cute. This title is fun to play and has some serious potential. It currently only has 30 levels and they're fairly easy to get through. However, the game is very well executed, the graphics are nice and the controls are simple and intuitive.

It looks like the initial offering price was five dollars for this app, which is somewhat justifiable from a developers standpoint; in wanting to recuperate costs. However i feel from the customers standpoint, its a bit higher than it should be due to the amount of content available at release. However currently the price is free for a short time. I believe the developers are trying to capture new audience base, and hopefully with that we'll be able to re-offer the product at a lower price than the initial offering.

I will be keeping an eye on these developers. I'm looking forward to seeing what updates they come out with. More levels and an adjusted price(after the free special offering) for five stars.

All game experience was played on an iPad 3.
