With proprietary Panopticon™ technology, this revolutionary app reads the gyroscopes on the iPad/iPhone and updates the view in perfect sync with your movements. Custom soundscapes complete the immersive experience.
Wow! That’s SOOO cool! How does it do that?!? - just a few of the surprised responses from Beta testers of Be There: San Francisco.
“Amazing is the way most people have described it,” says Creative Director Bob Hone of Red Hill Studios. “We’ve created a seamless connection between your movements and your view. You become part of the scene. You really have to feel this app to believe it.”
Be There: San Francisco provides two free explorable panoramas. With a paid upgrade you’ll have access to 12 high definition panoramas and more than 65 insightful, detailed descriptions of San Francisco's famous (and not so famous) landmarks. You can also jump between locations in the city for speedy ‘virtual sight-seeing.’ Initial set of panoramic nodes include:
•1878 Historic Panorama
The app includes a rare historic 1878 panorama that reveals a quaint but bustling San Francisco taken by noted photographer Eadweard Muybridge. With Panopticon technology, it’s like you’ve stepped back in time to witness the birth of this thriving city.
Red Hill will be releasing a suite of Be There apps in the coming months including virtual explorations of Yosemite Valley, Boston, New York City, and Washington D.C.
I live just outside San Francisco and visit often. This app lets me re-visit favorite spots and discover ones even I I didn't even know about. Take Balmy Alley, for instance. I have heard of the beautiful murals in the Mission District, but never seen them for myself. Now I have - and without having to pay the toll to cross the Golden Gate Bridge! The best part of this app is that I really feel like I'm there. I click on a location and I'm surrounded by the sights and sounds of the city and as I turn my body, my view turns within the scene. I don't get how they do that, but it works! I think my favorite is the panorama of old San Francisco from Nobb Hill in the 1800's. Definitely worth the purchase to get all twelve locations.
Be There: San Francisco
Well, I have not been to SF for a good while but this app engages and fascinates me like the great views across the city that I have enjoyed many times. I was also reminded of how people were so involved with the high resolution aerial photo on the roof deck of the DeYoung Museum -- looking for their own houses and going
back and forth from photo to view to compare. Be There gives you that feeling of discovery, insight, exploration and commanding viewpoint from which to experience a great city.
This app has to be seen to be fully appreciated. It's like your iPad is a window looking out at San Francisco from lots of different places, and as you move it around the picture moves just like you're there. The photographs are amazing, and it's really easy to use.
