Customer Reviews

Inaccurate in some way, spot on with heart rate.

I have a congenital heart defect and checking my pulse is important--especially as I'm working out. I'm currently training for a 5k. I will run/jog/walk/stumble three miles, and my phone will register that I have taken a total of seven steps THE WHOLE DAY! I don't know how that works. The reason I've given it 3 stars is because the heart rate monitor works really well. That is what I need it for above all else. Also, it works in congruence with another app ITTT. With the two apps working together, every time I take my pulse, my phone will automatically add my heart rate and any notes to a spreadsheet and save it in Google Docs. This way, a visit to my doctor only requires me to print one document and go about my day. No more checking it, writing it down in my log, taking the log to the doctor, waiting as he photocopies it. Nope. Just print and done. Also, I have checked it against other pulse monitors and blood pressure monitors. It's accurate. In fact, out of multiple pulse-monitoring phone apps that I've tried, this is the most accurate.

All other aspects of the app have been pretty useless to me. I thought it may have something to do with the fact that I didn't buy the little wrist band, but judging by the other reviews, that's not the case. If you need to check your heart rate, I highly recommend this (especially with the ITTT app.) If you want to track your steps, don't waste your time.

Needs some overhauling!

Overall, this does pretty much what the ios8 Health App does with the exception of the sleep and the heart rate, but it is not as accurate as I would like it to be. I go to an exercise class three times a week which it does not count as activity! If I wear the wrist band, it counts some of my steps in class, but if I clip it at my waist, it counts hardly any of them! It does not add that hour of activity to the activity portion of the 4-leaf clover. Sometimes it reads my pulse and oxygen content and sometimes I get the error message.
Even if I leave the Withings app open on my phone, it never syncs with my iPhone; I always have to force it to sync.
I like the sleep monitor, but am not sure it is totally accurate, because sometimes it says I was in deep sleep when I know I have been awake at that time and looked at the clock!
I think it needs a little overhaul!

I needed nagging

I admit it, I need nagging--in a nice way. When the Withings a Pulse tells me how close I am to my goal I want to DO it-today! I like being able to get my heart rate, because the machines in the gym are so inaccurate. The sleep monitoring is only approximate; it says you are in "light sleep" if you just lie quietly, but this is a factor in all the fitness bands, as they can only know if you are moving or not. An idea would be to have a "sensitive mode" for those of us who know we have disrupted sleep patterns and would like to monitor mainly true deep sleep.
