A joyous, easy to use, interactive animation created by award winning indie filmmaker Joanna Priestley, who has been called the "Queen of independent animation". Each click on a turquoise clam shell reveals a vividly colored animated treasure. Pulling on pointed wall objects and bouncing zoetropes will eventually complete this organic, abstract universe. Once everything has been opened, a lovely surprise emerges.
Dubstep composer Seth Norman (Triage) created a rich soundtrack for Clam Bake, which builds as the elements come to life. Norman says: “I think of Clam Bake as the virtual equivalent of being like a child rummaging through another kid's toy box. My focus as a sound designer was on creating small, attention-grabbing snippets of audio that give the user a feeling of surprise and discovery with each click as they dig further into the app. Creating the sound for Joanna Priestley's unique interactive world was a great opportunity to explore a wide range of techniques, sources and styles.” Clam Bake was made possible by the patience and programming skills of Jed Bursiek.

My kind of App!
Clam Bake is exactly the kind of app of which I'm hoping to see more! Its a beautiful piece of art with which you can interact, yet remains distinctly the vision of a great world-class artist. The interaction is kind of a dialogue between the user and the artist and its enormous fun to see how that dialogue plays out with different users. Some want to make everything happen at once like kids opening presents on Christmas morning. Others savor every event like a sip of fine bourbon. Crack open a clam right now!
Good for all ages
So perfect for both my 2 year old and mother to use to learn how to use their finger on the iPhone. So many different responses from each clam it keeps my kid going while also allowing for imagination, and interaction.
What the 2nd person said so well!
I've started gifting It to friends, which I have never before done with an app.
Have other artists apped? This would be a great trend.
