Best game played since switching to Mac!!!
Now that's what I'm talking about!!! This is what I've been yearning for since leaving the PC world last summer, and therefore its sweeping array of adventure hidden object/puzzle games!!!
Gorgeous graphics and a cohesive story line are the icing on a great cake! This game includes puzzles I actually had to think about (I play in expert mode), and sometimes walk away from because I got stuck. Additonally, it isn't one set of monotonous hidden object screens, and therefore increases the challenge and enjoyment. Great ending, and a bonus game that tells the origins of the story. Highly recommend!
Only complaint for those who plan to play, at the beginning of the game I had to resort once to the Strategy Guide because my solution to a puzzle wasn't working. Turns out I had the correct answer, but I didn't have my cursor exactly over the place I was supposed to use my tool. Having the cursor change is not good enough in this game ;)
BEST OF ALAWAR
I've played a number of Alawar games over the past 6 months on my MacBook with no problems at all. Of the 6 or so I've bought, Dark Strokes, Sins of the Father's was by far the best as far as plot. As the other reviews stated, there was enough suspense to keep me wanting to continue to play. Although the cost was somewhat high, the length of the game was well worth it. I played the expertise level that eliminated the automatic "hint" to kick in. The music was great, hauntingly so and went great with the game. I will probably play this again sometime down the road. I hope Alawar continues to develop great games that have a plot to their story without alot of repetative visits to locations within the game. Keep up the good work Alawar and I'll continue to be a loyal customer!
Yes, it's a hidden object game and just like others there's a great deal of running back and forth between the same areas. However, unlike others this story is actually compelling. The puzzles are challenging but not so much so that the game gets irritating. Also, the art work is very well done and I like the stylized charachters. It is a little pricey, yes, but I'd much rather spend money for good content and game play. Took about eight hours to finish the first round without playing the bonuc content. Well done Alawar!
