What's New in Version 3.1.1
Enhancements and fixes for iOS7.1
So bad I thought I downloaded the wrong app
Let's start at functionality. It works and streams audio and integrates the controls to the car. When it does this I can no longer use the app on the phone. While not a deal breaker definitely not good. Then I explored what it has to offer. There is great variety but mostly junk. So I will stick with Pandora or the other good music streaming apps out there. Then it wants my gps location great I thought maybe it will allow a second screen for navigation which was promptly crushed when the sales guy said no it doesn't do that. So what does it do other than draining your battery? Well it can tell you what is nearby but not how to get there. So I think I will stick with Google maps. Long story short this app can try to do what normally takes 2 apps but does it so terribly that I want it off my phone. As far as bugs I found one major one in 2 minutes of firing it up it was streaming 2 radio stations at once. I am coming to the conclusion that Honda doesn't care about infotainment system and is being left in the dust by other is car mfgs.
This app has to be one of the biggest black eyes for Honda ever. I've experienced several "versions" of this app and all have had no fixes for the thousands of issues. This app flat doesn't and never has worked. None of the stations will show when used in the car and only the most recently used station will work. Of course you have to unplug or disconnect it from your car to do anything with it. This app is not just a piece of junk, it's one of the most unsafe apps I've ever seen. I equate using this app in the car to texting while driving, it distracts you from anything going on outside of the car. Why can't Honda get their act together on this? It's been years now and nothing has changed.
Welcome to 1982.
Well - the app functions as it should. So if you and Siri are not BFF's, then this app may be for you. Actually, you might be better off developing your relationship with Siri than trying to learn this app. One positive - the app lets you know if the car needs serviced. But the downsides? Yes, you can search for that nearest coffee shop. But by the time HondaLink has read off one location, you probably passed by two coffee shops. I would recommend actually paying attention to the road while you drive. And look out the window to see if there is a nearby coffee shop. Yes - that's so old-school. But safer than trying to work a screen and drive your car.
