Fairly Fun

My friends got me into Dragon City, and I haven't been able to stop playing. Most of the dragon designs are cute or cool, naming them is fun, and it's satisfying to level up, complete goals, and defeat others in battle. Still, this game has its flaws. Gifts are great starting out, but they should be based on the player's level so that they can really be helpful for long-time players. Combat match-ups should be ranked so someone like me with no level 15 dragons yet doesn't wind up against people with dragons in the 20s and higher, impossible to defeat for a long time. Requiring a certain number of neighbors to expand your land and get more islands is totally silly and annoying, honestly. I'm running out of room for habitats and I can't buy anymore expansions with gold because I only have 7 neighbors. I'm not even quite sure what constitutes how many neighbors you have. I have friends who have dozens of neighbors, yet I only have 7. Certain buildings require you to invite friends to play the game, which is understandable since you want lots of people to play it, but I can't constantly bother my friends with game invites nor can I spend money on gems to hire elves. An option to use gold to open these buildings instead would be an excellent feature, even if it's 1M gold or along those lines. Despite all these flaws plus bugs now and then, I enjoy it enough and will keep playing for quite some time.

Direct Rip-off of Dragonvale

This game is a rip off of a game that came out 2 years before and superior to this game: Dragonvale. There are many components that show this: the ability to name dragons, gems, types of dragons, the habitats, dragon treats, and even the Dragons themselves. I will give Dragon City this, I am impressed with dragon fighting in this game, something Dragonvale does not have, but the fighting is so boring that it is not fun. Also, Dragonvale has over 200, (yes 200!) different dragons. But some of them have the exact same build as other dragons just recolored so... About 160 or so uniquely designed dragons. Dragon city does have different textures to their dragons though, but there is not as many as Dragonvale, and new dragons are not introduced that much, and Dragon city does not have dragons that are limited time dragons, unlike Dragonvale. Dragonvale has so many dragons that come at certain times of the year, or certain years, that it is a challenge to get them all, whereas Dragon city it is not as much as a challenge. Also the dragons in Dragon City are taken from Dragonvale also. For instance, the mud dragon. The mud dragon on Dragon city is chubby and has six legs, no big deal right? Wrong. Dragonvale's mud dragon is exactly the same but looks friendlier. And Dragonvale's mud dragon was out at least a year before Dragon City even existed. I hope this review made you realize Dragon City is a direct copy of Dragonvale. Also, go play Dragonvale.

Dragon City Review

I have been playing for about two years. I enjoy the game. I have a couple of suggestions. First, when the game presents the inner games to acquire new dragons ( like the recent Christmas inner game) you must get dragons in the order they come. I have always had at least one or more of these dragons already. I do not want to work to get a second. There should be a way of slipping past them so the player can work on acquiring the new dragons they do not have. Takes the initiative to work so hard for new dragons when you are working on ones you do not have. The other suggestion is to have dragons fight other dragons close to their own rank. If I have level 30 dragons and and trying to do the three game dragon fights, and find all those I am to fight to be level 50, 60, even 90, it takes the desire to do combat away. In many cases there is simply no way to beat them. Oh, one more thing, gift giving to other players is lame. It is great for those starting out, but I think gifts should include things for different levels so they mean something to those who have played a long time. Otherwise, I think the game is a lot of fun.
