Honestly, this is the best task manager and calender combo for Mac if you are looking for something to replace the default calender application, but you don’t want to get rid of iCloud and have it work on your iPhone / iPad / etc. Calenders should be intuitive, easy to read. Task management should be customizable. I prefer to have my tasks in the same program as my calendar because I don’t want to have too many seperate programs open, or have to duplicate information in multiple programs. This program is easy to use, has an intuitive interface, and works well. It is a bit expensive, and though I knew of its capabilities, I was not willing to purchase it initially simply becasue of cost/benefit. With the arrival of their companion program, BusyContact (which is leaps and bounds a better program than the contact manageemtn that comes by default) integrated, the two together are worth the cost.
BusyCal has stood the test of time… I have used this for nearly 2 years now and my calendar is my lifeline to keep me organized. It works flawlessly and you’d be hard pressed to find some functionality that the developers have not incorporated into the product… in fact I sometimes still discover new tings BusyCal does like allow for starting an event in one time zone and finishing in another one… not something I use every day, but for things like flights it’s a great feature. There are some calendars on the market that have a slicker interface, but don’t let that fool you… BusyCal is the top when it comes to working as a calendar.
Why don’t more apps do this?
Seriously, why is it so hard to find an app that combines your calendar and to dos for each day in a calendar format?? This one does it exceptionally well. It’s missing some minor features (like travel time, smooth scrolling between days/weeks) but otherwise it’s perfect. I mostly use the week view to plan out large projects and what I’m going to do for each every day, making a todo and scheduling in time to do it in the same step. Totally worth it for me!
