Over 1,000 Total Vocab Words

While going through your first Greek primer, make your own cards and reserve the article (ό, ή, το) for the back of the index card. This app, like all commercial vocabulary cards, do a disservice to the novice by showing the article with the Greek word, thereby showing if it is a noun and not allowing the novice to memorize on their own whether the word is a noun or not.

What I love about the app though is using it to widen my NT vocabulary, now that I've finished my first Greek primer (Mounce in my case). Go to the setting and activate all of the various Greek primer authors, then select the highest frequency as 20,000 and the lowest frequency as 150. Once you master those, make the high frequency 150 and the low frequency 100, working your way to lower and lower frequency words. In that way, the app allows you to memorize over 1,000 NT words, beginning with the most frequently used ones so that you can actually read the New Testament in Greek!

2 things would make it perfect: if the articles for nouns were only shown with the English translation (back of the card) and if the Strongs number were shown so that I could look up the etymology of long words.

helpful, but needs improvement

This app has been very beneficial to me these past two years in my studies of biblical greek, but there are some major issues with it. First, over 75% of the pronunciations are wrong—the stress is not properly placed where the accent is. Second, the specs say that this app has every word that appears 10x or more in the NT, which is false. It has has every word that appears 12x or more and about 25 words in the 10-11 range which means it is missing about 125 words. Third, the price is very high, especially since there are so many things that need improvement. If all the pronunciations were correct and all the words present (perhaps even every word that appears in the NT), it would be worth $20. Nonetheless, this has been an invaluable resource in my first two years of studying biblical Greek, and I would suggest buying it. Just don't
listen to the pronunciations or else you will develop a bad habit of pronouncing the Greek words incorrectly.

Worth every penny

I'm taking a class based on Mounce's Greek class and this app has all vocab words for year 1 and 2. This app crushes the competition. The UI is just amazing and it's a pleasure to use. I have corresponded with an employee of iCode, the developer, and he mentioned they plan to release custom decks in their next release (so you can save words you need practice with).

I was comparing this app to a different app that our instructor purchased that was 1/2 the cost, and he was impressed and regretted buying the cheaper app. I'm telling you, this is your only choice if you are taking Koine Greek.

It does have audio pronunciations, just to be clear, since I didn't see it explicitly mentioned on the store page. I also noticed that on my iphone4, audio only works when connected to wifi.
