Great for what it is

My students 3rd through 5th grade English as a second language students love this app! There are three games; each of them play like a video game in which content knowledge and gaming technique both play a role. Each of the three games is popular. I would use the app more often but unfortunately much of the skill tested in the game is around identifying or classifying words by their part of speech. Instead of choosing the best adjective for a sentence, or choosing a grammatically correct sentence, students are asked questions like, "Which of these words is an adjective?" We generally don't parse sentences in elementary school. I'm less concerned that my students are able to say that, "happy" is an adjective than I am that my students know a broad number of adjectives that they can use appropriately. From time to time, it is important for students use their knowledge of parts of speech. So, this app has great games that are of limited value to me and my students. The camel game is the most useful in my context because it presents sentences with a missing word and students need to choose the word that best completes the sentence. I wish the game had more questions like this. Also, I wish the app offered instruction for the students to learn the parts of speech. If they don't know what a concrete noun is, for example, the app doesn't show them; so the kids are, "shooting in the dark."

Wonderful app.

One of my favorite apps. It feels and looks like a game but is very good for little ones. Games with a purpose and good teaching. More of these are needed, most apps out there are a waste of time.

Too much dead time

The graphics are nice. However, there is no explanation or practice of what the different nouns are. The games go slowly and not always accurate. Kids got bored with it easily.
