Nicely designed game, but very easy and short
This game is really beautifully executed, but unfortunately it is geared to a quite young audience and will pose no challenges to experienced adventure gamers. I finished it in under 2 hours total. It’s a pity it is so easy and short, since it is much better designed than average for this genre.
Fun Adventure for Poking Around & Exploring!
I love to poke around & explore, not run a race (that's why I favor Point & Click Games & Hidden Object Games). If I'm playing an HO Game, I prefer it if the Hidden Object scenes are kept to a minimum & interspersed with searching for objects (hidden or in plain sight) that are useful to the quest and with puzzles -- the variety allows for more immersion, more stimulation and allows for the feeling of plot development. I've played some really BAD HO Games that promise a plot: but instead, you're left with countless HO scenes, looking for the same horrid collection of objects over & over again -- there is NO real plot (stultifyingly boring!) & you can't WAIT for the monotony to end!
All that said, this game was rather fun -- and I'm always game for anything Sci-Fi, Steampunk, Fantasy: anything otherworldly. Some of the HO scenes were way too easy, but some really taxed my eyes. I believe this game would be fun for kids, teenagers and adults -- and would also be fun as a shared experience of parent with a child, especially as there was nothing violent or really scary (nothing to create nightmares or night terrors): just a puzzling adventure, fit for all ages!
As far as puzzles go, the biggest challenge for me involved some sort of mathematical progression I was unfamiliar with: Math has never been my strong suit, and in college I took the bare minimum for my degree. Not wanting to resort to walkthroughs or cheat sheets, I also avoided looking it up on the web: I took my time & reasoned my way through, and when I discovered the progression for myself, I was quite proud of myself (gotta take your victories where you can find them)...
Bottom Line: Fun, with a compelling plot. I wouldn't have minded if the game was longer -- but it was also cheaper than some shorter, lesser games I've played.
Note to Developers: If you do a sequel, I'd love to see more Sci-Fi/Outer Space/Steampunk scenes interwoven into the plot -- and I'd love to see it become even more of a pure Point & Click Adventure, with lots of challenging puzzles (not "arcade-style" mini-games -- my motto is "less brawn -- MORE brain!) & limited (if any) HO scenes.
Worked great on my iMac running OS X Lion. Fun, nice looking game, highly recommended.
