What's New in Version 1.0.3
Enhanced social features.
Improved battle experience.
Minor bug fixes/tweaks.
Cool concept, slightly confusing
The tutorial at the beginning of the fake doesn't explain very well all the facets of the game menu. This is WoW meets Pokemon. You have a semi-open map to look around with quests to do and along the way there are random encounters with monsters that you can either finish off in battle or capture when the monster is sufficiently low on health. There's stuff called ink the monsters are made of and I think you get it one of three ways: quests, battles, or by some kind of (unexplained) timer system every so often. You also need gold for boosts and to evolve or revive monsters. Both ink and hold are relatively scare so if you're not willing to pay for more, use it sparingly. Finally there are book pages. I still don't know what these are for. I haven't come across a use for them yet. On a side note there's toto who has something to do with with how much ink you get on the aforementioned unexplained timer. (again not very well explained)
Addicting... But frustrating
First time playing, I loved it. I was hooked. The premise of the game is simple; upgrade your monsters and pass the challenges. The really annoying thing is that the higher you get, the less your gold is worth. For example, when you're a level 5 monster, you can get revived for 10 or something gold bars, but when you're at level 25, it costs triple that amount. And it takes too long to earn gold, life, or upgrades on your own without paying.
Turn notifications off! They will send you something 5-10 times a day telling you you're in the lead or you're behind you're friends. It's annoying.
The set-up and look is good, but the story is never explained. I would like to know why there are monsters in oz and why I have to collect these things. The tutorial was rushed, and didn't explain everything. I can't play for a long stretch of time, because the enemy monsters are always better than mine, even when I have the level advantage, and I run out of blue healing stuff or all my creatures die. Then I just have to wait until my creatures revive and I get more blue stuff, unless I want to spend gold bars, of which I only have a little unless I want to spend real money, which is not going to happen. I get that they want to make money, but they don't have to be so needy about it. Besides, they get money from all those annoying pop-up adds anyways.
