Description

TN Tech University (TTU)- and Tennessee Governor’s Highway Safety Office (GHSO) promote seat belt and booster seat education in elementary schools.
The Ollie Otter program communicates that children should use booster seats until they reach 4 feet 9 inches tall. Ollie teaches children to ask others to buckle up too so that everyone is safer in the vehicle.

Ollie’s seat belt safety message is shared by
· TTU

· GHSO

· TN Road Builders Association (TRBA)

· Alaska Injury Prevention Center (AIPC)

· Mississippi Safety Services (MSS)

· Escambia County Sherriff’s Department, Florida.

The Ollie Otter app includes tools for teachers, parents, child safety advocates, law enforcement and emergency services personnel to implement the program, teach seat belt education and improve child passenger safety.

Awards:
Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) 2012 Peter K. O'Rourke Special Achievement Award for promoting child passenger safety in Tennessee.

America Road and Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) 2007 Roadway Workzone Safety Awareness Award for private outreach.
