Kharé is brimming with things to do and creatures to meet. Visit the Festival of Thieves, battle a ghost, escape from slavers, gamble your fortune at the Halls of Vlada, drink at the tavern, worship strange Gods, and much much more. Will you uncover the secrets of the city, overthrow the Council, destroy an invading army, or leave Kharé to burn?
From legendary designer Steve Jackson, co-founder of Lionhead Studios (with Peter Molyneux), and Fighting Fantasy and Games Workshop (with Ian Livingstone), and designed and adapted by inkle, the app uses inklewriter technology to tell your journey in real-time, shaping the story around your choices. The text itself changes based on how you play and what you do. In combat, the action is described on the fly based on how you play.
Featuring original illustrations by John Blanche and maps by Mike Schley (Wizards of the Coast).
"Kharé: Cityport of Traps" is Part 2 of 4. Part 1 is out now and Part 3, "The Seven Serpents", is coming later this year. (But while you wait, check out our new game, 80 DAYS.)
What's New in Version 1.1.4
An incredible adaption - but welcoming for newcomers - a must play!
I can never find "that perfect app" to get, I'm constantly re-playing the older big name stuff because everything new is disappointing.
I've been blown away. It is a simple game with graphics that are so nonanimated as to be almost confusing to why you'd pay $2.99, and then you start playing and really see all the beautiful artwork illustrating the story and the hundreds of pages of scripts that detail the thousands of possibilities. If you love high adventure, this game is FOR YOU. The story asks you where to go, what to do, wraps around you, and remembers your choices three hours later - and even asks you to do the same! If that isn't attention to detail, then I don't know what is - and isn't that what we are begging for in games, for the makers to give us SUBSTANCE, not just happy graphics and a ten-minute shoot-em-up? For your dollar you get all the replay ability of a story that can't be played the same way twice, and a guarantee of no in-app purchases.
I'm sold, and I loved both episodes. I cannot wait for episodes three and four. For anyone that says "too short" or "what? Another chapter?" Realize that it was planned as a series and you paid what you paid for a really good interactive book.
An memorable trek through a unique city
Saying that Sorcery is an adaptation of a gamebook would be barely scratching the surface. It's a book, it's an RPG, it's an adventure game. Above all, this episode is an exploration of a vast city filled with memorable characters and locations, with countless adventures to have, secrets to uncover and traps to avoid.
This episode has all the features that made the first one great, and addresses some of its shortcomings. Those who found the first one too short and easy will have much more of a challenge this time - and might be tempted to go back to part 1 to prepare better. And those who've already gone through the books will find the city subtly changed (and more than a little expanded) from what they remember.
Sorcery 2 is a magnificent game with tons of charm, polish and replay value, and I can't recommend it enough.
A spectacular game!!!
I rarely find a game that won't lose my interest after playing it for a little while. However, when I played this game I played it non-stop until I completed it (both chapters). Even my little sister who has never been too great at reading and has always completely hated it has been playing this so much that she probably has no clue how much she's read. Even the art was spectacular from the map to the accession all picture hidden through the story giving a view of what your character was seeing. It was wonderful to see what was described in the story on the map. This is one of my absolute favorite apps and I can not see a time when it will ever leave my home screen. I am anxiously waiting for the next chapter of the story to be released.
