The online e-edition is SOOO much better!
I recently subscribed to the Tribune's digital only service. I have loved the ease of use when reading it in safari, the features, the full page view, etc. I was excited to learn that they offered this app, thinking it would be the same sort of thing. I was wrong. The app and its zoom feature is not great. The look of it is like looking at a real 2 page at a time newspaper...you have to zoom in on everything because the print is so small...which gets annoying when it is an article you'd normally skip. To get it into a more readable view, you need to zoom and then double click the article.
Skip the app and use the online reader... You will not regret it.
Too Sluggish loading
I love reading the Trib on my iPad and would consider dropping my print edition home delivery if my wife felt the same way (she prefers the hard copy). I've been reading the web based digital edition and just noticed that there was now an app and was excited to try it. Overall, I found it was to sluggish with the pages taking was too long to "get clear". For now I'll stick to the web based app which is much faster but I'm hopefully the iPad app will improve and I'll be checking it from time to time.
In any event, I appreciate the Trib's work in developing their electronic edition!!
Great app, when it works
Unfortunately I think the Tribune company has removed focus from making things easy. Today the app quit working -- stopped downloading new issues a few days ago, which I had not noticed (I also get the print edition). And good luck finding help. The link to "Report a Problem" takes you to a useless page that still thinks I am not a registered tribune user. (I am). So the best I can do is blast something on social media (again) or send email somewhere. no real FAQ, technical FAQ, etc. If they want to survive in the new age, the support must improve.
