Used to be great
Over the past few months both quip for IOS and iPhone have become riddled with bugs and crashes.
Also after a few years they still have not provided decent sharing and file organization. Notifications are very poor still - basically it will tell you someone might have mentioned you somewhere in a giant document but you can't see where and have to ask them or read the whole thing to hope you find it.
Spreadsheets are still weak on the mac, weaker if embedded, and borderline unusable on a mobile device, even a larger screen like iPhone 7+.
Seems to me salesforce must have slashed the quip budget since they bought it and Quip has fallen significantly in my opinion
I like Quip...mostly
Quip has allowed me to codify my to do lists and immediately share with my assistant. Whenever I have a thought of something to do-from the immediate business task to the longer term personal dream, it all goes into Quip and I never lose it. I find that inputting every stray thought into Quip helps me focus on the topic of the moment, knowing that I won't lose either the thought or the piece of paper it's written on.
One thing that does not work very will is the pointer-it's hard to get it to go to exactly where you want. And therefore it's cumbersome to edit, highlight or do anything with an existing item.
Awesome already and still growing better
It's great. You can annotate and discuss with collaborators precise parts in documents. Technical support is very responsive, too. I use the Mac version, the iPhone version and I use Quip on my iPad Mini. I wished that the tables improve more (no date picker yet) and that one day I can annotate images like in Evernote (encirceling parts in an image for example). Quip is a perfect mix of Google Docs, Google Sheets, Evernote and Wunderlist and makes the others look limited and stale. Quip is the future. Edit June 2017: I'm using the desktop app and multiple functions are not possible on the iPad version, so do not expect too much.
