Great game but...
This is a great game, keeping what made Dragon Island great and adding more. However, there are a few remaining flaws from the first game, and a few changes that I think detract from the game. It all centers around being mobile friendly.
1- Most important- "Same old problem"- loses progress when you have to switch away from the game. Even if you double click the home button to pull it right back up, you are sent back to the loading screen and appear at a town. (If it's stability that requires the load screen again, look at how Scurvey Scalawags does it, where you resume the battle in progress). This is a BIG issue in the new one because if you are in a online dungeon, you have to pay to reenter even if you didn't die!
2- Dungeon movement is slower than DI, and explored areas don't "become visible" in the same way, so navigating is a lot slower and more confusing. I will trade the walking animation to get more speed.
3- I don't like the "bonus attack" system at all. It adds a lot of hassle, particularly when large bosses start hitting 5 times in a row. It forces unnecessary monster farming just to keep up, and detracts from using the strategy of TU to pick moves and targets.
Overall, glad to have this great sequel, but hoping they'll address the these first two issues soon!
Best IPhone Game I've come across
First of all there is no castle/village/town/city building or expanding of any kind making this part of the 1 percentile of games in the App Store that isn't a reskinned version of Sims or Clash of Clans. Which in itself is beautiful. Not to mention there's NO ****ing waiting. Did I mention you don't have to wait? You can actually play this game for more than 5 minutes a day. On top of these the game looks great I mean seriously these things could give pokemon a run for there money in the cuteness and bad assery department. The game also feels great, the combat system becomes natural within minutes of starting the game and traveling the vast area is easy and convenient. The best part though? Hunter Island has hundreds of hours of addicting content. Whether your completing the story, filling in your monster book, or farming rare monsters this game has PLENTY for you to do and you'll have an awesome time doing it.
I once believed all app game developers were giant corporation douche bags but within this game I found hope. Thank you ZigZaGame Inc. keep doing what you're doing.
Fun, but could be improved
This game is a lot of fun, but it needs some adjustments. On the up side, you don't have to buy anything extra in the game to get through it at a good pace. i also enjoy the graphics.
On the other hand, the battles need to be modified so that you can actually beat the bosses through regular game play, fighting some battles and just following the story. It's maddening later on that bosses are given so many extra turns that they kill a fourth of your party before you even get one turn to fight back. At which point you have to go back and fight a bunch of boring lower level battles just to level up.
It's also frustrating that there are so many rare monsters you can only get through egg spins, which seem to be rigged so it's almost impossible to get a good one. In addition, the rare monsters you find through game play are often not as strong as you might expect. If I spend all the time to look for one, I expect a good pay off. And you can be searching for a ridiculously long period of time in the right spot, and still not get one.
So hopefully at some point they will modify the game and make it less frustrating and more enjoyable.
