"Perhaps iOS isn't the first platform you'd think of when looking for an RPG, but Shadowrun Returns might change that. Kickstarted by fans of the SNES classic, it blends character customization, an engaging story line, great design, and a solid tactical-combat system with great aplomb." - The Verge
“Shadowrun Returns drops players headfirst into this richly realized fiction, combining classic role-playing storytelling with modern tactical battles . . . running the shadows has never been more fun.” - 8.5/10 – Game Informer
MAN MEETS MAGIC & MACHINE. The year is 2054. Magic has returned to the world, awakening powerful creatures of myth and legend. Technology merges with flesh and consciousness. Elves, trolls, orks, and dwarves walk among us, while ruthless corporations bleed the world dry. You are a shadowrunner - a mercenary living on the fringes of society, in the shadows of massive corporate arcologies, surviving day-by-day on skill and instinct alone. When the powerful or the desperate need a job done, you get it done... by any means necessary.
The unique cyberpunk-meets-fantasy world of Shadowrun has gained a huge cult following since its creation nearly 25 years ago. Now, creator Jordan Weisman returns to the world of Shadowrun, modernizing this classic game setting as a single player, turn-based tactical RPG.
- The complete Shadowrun Returns campaign (12+ hours of gameplay) now optimized for touchscreen input
- Explore a grim cyberpunk future where magic and technology rule the streets
- Make every action count in gripping, turn-based tactical combat
- Create and customize your character from one of six unique archetypes
- Over 350 different weapons, spells and abilities: sling fireballs, kneecap enemies with your shotgun, or roundhouse kick them in the face!

What's New in Version 1.2.7
Various bug fixes.
Caution: This is basically a demo of the PC version. You get about 2% of what you should. There is one 4-6 hour campaign with this version that ends in the most unspectacular manner possible. That's all. Do you have any idea how much content is actually available for this game on PC? TONS!!! And a lot of it is really very well done. If you knew you would boycott this until they give us user created content. It took months just for them to make the game playable at all!!! After looking at the kickstarter page you can see they've made plenty of profit on this yet the quality of this version is seriously lacking.
Bug Fix for Bug Hunt on last mission: After you get to the end and the two true form workers pop out of the walls (and the game seems bugged cuz you can't continue) you have to get your group in the hallway just before the final room until one more Bug pops out of the NE wall.
Crash and try again.
To start, it crashes a lot. From what I can play this game is amazing! Save after everything you do or you will lose your progress. That is the only thing keeping this game a 5/5.
This game tickles my inner child, since I love the original for the snes. Although the strategy is different, the parts that count stayed the same. You get to chose your own path, but this version has most of it laid out. In the original game I spent hours running around trying to say the exact phrase to the right person hoping to move on. This version lets your character speak his mind in the confines of the building you are in. No running around an entire city getting 1 pathetic karma at a time. Leveling your character, personal touches and awesome turn-base strategy is an advancement from the first game. I hope it stilly as the arena!!!!
Potential ruined by quality issues
I play on an iPad 4 and I highly recommend skipping this game for now.
After playing the game for a few hours I initially gave it a 5 star review because it looks great and they do an excellent job with the theme.
However, after playing it a few more hours and getting close to the final battle, I'm dropping it to a 2 star because I am unable to complete the game due to bugs in the next to last scene. After reading posts on their message board, I'm even more annoyed because the bug I ran into was a known major issue in the PC version the iPad game is copied from - and they knew about it about a year ago!
To try and get around the bug I decided to use the "restart level" option...I figured it would be better to replay an hour of the game than never finish it. That was a big mistake - instead of restarting the level it took me to the new character creation page. When I cancelled out of that, I found out it deleted my last save when it started to create a new character.
If they ever get this game working I'll bump it back to a 5 star, but until then it's at best a 2 star.
