‘Ultima IV: C64’ is a near 100% replica of the original version developed by Origin Systems in 1985, available free of charge - courtesy of Mythic studios - utilizing Elite System’s C64: Elite Collection technology.

SET FORTH ON GRAND ADVENTURES
The evil triad of Mondain, Minax, and the hellspawn Exodus has been vanquished but evil yet abounds, in isolated pockets and in the hearts of men. A new age awaits the coming of one who can conquer evil through mastery of both magic and the use of force. Daemons, dragons, and long-dead wizards plague the countryside and must be destroyed.

EXPERIENCE A MILESTONE IN COMPUTER GAMING

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE GOOD?
Ultima IV challenges not only your physical and mental skills, but the true fabric of your moral character, breaking traditional “kill the bad guy to save the world” clichés.

BATTLE ENEMIES IN STRATEGIC COMBAT
The seeker on the path of the Avatar will face hostile groups composed of mixed enemy types and will survive such encounters only by strategic use of weapons and terrain. Earthly victories over seemingly impossible odds lead to the final conflict, where the ultimate challenge awaits.

The app is constantly evolving, Elite Systems is committed to continuing development over the weeks, months and indeed years ahead. If you have any questions, concerns or general feedback please contact us at support@elite-systems.co.uk We promise we’ll respond to your message.

NOTE: We're aware of (and thank each of you for reporting) a number of issues. Currently we're considering which of them can feasibly be addressed and where so, on what timescale.

SIGNIFICANT - currently this app does not utilise iCloud to back-up saved games. Therefore, whilst we intend and believe that saved games will be retained when this app is updated, we can not guarantee that it will. If you wish to retain your saved games we recommend that you DO NOT UPDATE THIS APP.

PLEASE ALSO NOTE: As of 12th Sept. we are aware that a number of players have reported issues with the game "freezing" after loading a saved game. We are investigating these reports and in particular whether the issue may be related to the Stack pointer. If so, we expect it to take a few days to prepare a fix and an update for submission to Apple.

What's New in Version 1.7

The source of an issue which has caused a number of players to report that their copy of 'Ultima IV: C64' occasionally 'freezes' during play has been identified and has been fixed.

Three additional issues - which were identified by players during testing of the fix for the 'freezing' issue - have also been fixed.

Previously we wrote, "Sadly, once the app is updated many of the saved games (from the existing version of the app) will no longer work. If you try to use an old saved game in the new version of the app you may be able to walk around the world map, but you will experience corruption if you try to enter a town/castle/dungeon/moongate. In this circumstance, or with any other problem with an old save game, the only thing you can do is start again. We apologise for this but are relieved to be able to report that (we think) we've addressed the issues and that gamers will now be able to enjoy this genre-defining RPG as we and others intended."

Unfortunately, I’ve changed my mind

I was SO excited to find this game! I’ve been wanting to play it again for years. It’s amazing they are able to “port” it, it is literally the original game in all it’s vintage glory. I was so happy . . . but now after a couple weeks of playing, I’ve run into the same problem I see many here have: the farther you get, the more impossible it becomes to play. The mis-clicks are making it nearly pointless to continue; I’m up to FIVE mis-clicks per step now, about 40% of the time. I just made 23 moves in order to get on top of a treasure chest. I have blundered into poisoned soil 10 times in the last day. I can’t fight, no one will stop moving. I end up fighting with one person and skipping the rest, because I can’t reposition anyone. I am hugely disappointed, can this be fixed? It’s not a small issue. Does this have to do with my iOS version? Is anyone NOT having this problem? Thank you for putting this game out, but alas I don’t think I’ll bother as it’s already incredibly frustrating and I’ve only got six in the party. I haven’t even been in a dungeon, and I can barely fight trolls. There’s a long way to go.

Interface needs a tweak, otherwise great

It was great to get a chance to finally beat this game after about a 30 year gap. The only drawback is after awhile when trying to move it would start to double the input and move twice successively. then three times. and so on until by the end it would move 6 times in one keystroke. It made the Great Stygian Abyss very frustrating. It would be great if they could clean this bug up.

Fun to a point...

I know I shouldn't whine about a free thing but the misclicks are getting stupid. It's almost not fun anymore. I don't play as long now that that is happening. I was considering checking out the game that the ad has been promoting but I don't think I will. Apparently quality isn't a concern. Now that I'm hooked into the game I'd even pay a couple of dollars to be able to finish it without the frustration of poor battle placement and having to move 15 times to get a treasure chest.
