Simply Amazing!
As a child I've never enjoyed reading as much of my friends did. However, as I grew older I started to learn the value of reading as I became more interested in what I wanted to do for the rest of life. As a stereotypical introvert who always prefers to listen rather than talk in large discussions, reading books became a new hobby of mine (as my synapses started to spark and retrieve messages from one word to another). Unfortunately I would have a consistently annoying mental block, where as for some reason in certain parts of the page, sentence, or paragraph, I would temporarily read abnormally slow trying to 'catch' that word or idea. The solution was the fact that my mind was struggling to figure out what the words themselves meant rather than grasping the whole general idea. However, because of this fascinating and helpful new app, it trained my eyes to become more fixated on each word so that my eyes don't wander, as i try to read and grasp the idea at the same time. Conversely with the speed of each individual word constantly flashing before your eyes, creates a mutual synergetic phenomena, in which not only this tactic can allow your brain to process information WAY MORE EFFICIENTLY, but your reading speed will increase dramatically; I guess a good metaphor would be like Bruce Banner turning into the Incredible Hulk.
Terrible, at 1000 WPM
While I now know I can easily read more than 650 words a minute, I can't read 80% of what I want to read like iBooks. There is no instructions or directions to getting more sources to read. This product works it is just terribly designed and is extremely limited I it's usefulness... The fact that I have to go out and get 3 more accounts to products to be able to read anything that is not on the internet is extremely annoying especially because this app does not facilitate getting those accounts. And the fact that you can read things on the internet is ruined by the fact there is no search engine and you have to cut and paste exact addresses from a different app into the field to get to your article. So don't buy this till it gets better!
Needs to be smarter
This is a very elegant app and it mostly works as advertised, but it lacks some essential tools in how it does RSVP. Most urgently, it needs to be smarter about how long it shows words that are longer or unusual. The best RSVP apps are able to adapt for this. Secondly, it should be easier to scrub back a few words or to replay a sentence. Finally, it should be able to show you where you are in context if needed. Some writing is complex and needs to be seen in context to fully understand. But for most web magazine articles this works fine.
