A surreal thriller in which the written word is your map, as well as your narrator.
DEVICE 6 plays with the conventions of games and literature, entwines story with geography and blends puzzle and novella, to draw players into an intriguing mystery of technology and neuroscience.
Anna wakes up in a castle on a remote island, with little recollection of how she got there. All she remembers is an unusually unpleasant doll.
Why are there two identical castles on the island? Who is the mysterious man in the bowler hat? And above all, what is the purpose of the tests Anna is put through?
Read, listen and peek into three-dimensional photographs to solve the bizarre mysteries of DEVICE 6.
"DEVICE 6 is designed to linger in the mind long after the last code has been cracked and the last sentence read. Spy stories - even traditional ones - often haunt their readers' dreams once they've been completed. It's only appropriate, really. Is that a final full-stop or a microdot? Is this the end of the affair or an invitation to go deeper?"
Eurogamer - 9/10
"In using its text both as narrative and as geography – and through its impressively restrained use of illustration and sound – it generates an almost unrivalled sense of place. It isn’t embarrassed to allow Device 6 to be a game when it needs to be, and yet it knows precisely when to let the story take over. The result is a sharp, striking mystery that is at once provocative, extraordinarily stylish and altogether essential"
EDGE - 9/10
"In turning a text adventure into a world map, Simogo has resurrected a long-dead genre with style and confidence. Great presentation and brilliant puzzles complete a stellar package"
Pocketgamer – 9/10
"Ever exceeding expectations, the developer has followed up one of 2013′s highlights with another title that can be classed as such. With a compelling story that keeps you guessing, and a pin-point utilisation of the platform, Device 6 is an accomplishment in games design, mobile or otherwise"
God is a Geek - 9/10
"DEVICE 6 not only explores the boundaries of narrative storytelling, it also demonstrates the creative potential of touchscreen gaming"
Appspy – 5/5
"Simogo’s doing something few others are doing, and it’s wonderful that someone is both providing great experiences and testing the limits of interactive media"
148apps - 5/5
"An ingenious slice of puzzling adventure that's as imaginative as it is stylish"
Modojo - 4.5/5

Wow. Just wow
So I downloaded this game this morning to keep me busy while on my flight. I could tell from just the intro that they creators had put a lot of time and thought into this app and if I didn't like the game oh well, at least it's esthetically interesting ....I have been completely swept up in this game all day. It's clever, no. Brilliant! I really can't do it justice trying to explain it with my own words. It's not like any other game I've ever played. I felt as though I was watching a movie at first, then reading a novel, then all of a sudden I was completely immersed in the story as if I was walking around with the character! I found myself even getting nervous or anxious at some points as the soundtrack times itself perfectly to your progress. The ending honestly leaves you stunned. Its a bit expensive ($4.99) but even if I hadn't used a gift card this would have been well-worth spending $5 on. Do yourself a favor and download "Device 6" It's quite the experience from start to finish. I hope the do more with this, not so much by adding more chapters but maybe more story's. It would be neat to have "books/simulations" to pick from that have multiple chapters like this. I need every book to be like this from now on!
An amazing non-game
If you're looking for this to be a heavy puzzle-laden twisty-turny game, you will be disappointed. This is not truly a puzzle game.
What DEVICE 6 actually is an amazing reading experience, with a story that becomes such a part of what you are experiencing that by the end you actually question your own involvement in reading the story. And the ending was brilliant, even if not exactly clear, but isn't that how the whole story is? They don't spell everything out for you. They make you work for it. It's one of those reading experiences were you have to use your own brain understand what's going on. Don't expect a passive reading experience, you have to be part of it, and it will draw you in.
I think DEVICE 6 is well worth the money, much like a good book or well-made movie. It's definitely worth it when compared to the price of a cup of coffee at Starbucks or that designer cupcake. Nobody seems to question the price of these things that are gone within maybe a half an hour. And unlike these things, DEVICE 6 is something you can go back and enjoy again after a few months or a year much like you do a good book.
Contender for game of the year.
I'm not one to write reviews, but for a game this polarizing I felt the need to. Gaming websites are putting this IOS game on their top 10 lists for possible game of the year contenders. Yes, it's short. Yes, there are puzzles to solve. Yes, you do have to read. Yes, it costs 4 WHOLE dollars! But what people don't get in this day and age is that the experience is everything! We spend 4 bucks on a cup of coffee and it's gone in an hour but complain that we spent a dollar on an iPhone game and played it for an hour and feel like we got ripped off! This game will stick with you long after you finish it. It is unlike anything you have played before. I've been playing video games my whole life and this is one of the few games that has a completely original idea. Read the description, check the reviews, and make an informed decision. The developers did an amazing job and don't deserve the 1 star rating that people are giving out. This is a great game that runs smooth as silk with no bugs. There is a lot of garbage on the App Store, this is not one of them. It's mostly 5's and 1's here. Don't you wonder why?
