Intense, thrilling, and topical, RÉPUBLIQUE is a stealth-action game that explores the perils of government surveillance in the Internet Age.
You receive a desperate call from Hope, a mysterious woman trapped inside an oppressive totalitarian state. By hacking into the nation's elaborate surveillance network and taking control, you guide Hope through a web of danger and deception across five thrilling episodes. (Purchase future episodes with the discounted Season Pass.)
Challenging puzzles and complex strategy are offset by the simplicity of the game's “One Touch” controls, developed over two years by industry veterans (Metal Gear Solid 4, Halo 4, F.E.A.R., Black & White 2, SOCOM).

Flashbacks to MGS
Playing this game—on an iPhone 4GS, no less, when I’m not a fan of small screens—really brought back memories of playing Metal Gear Solid 1, back in the day. MGS was my first stealth-action game, and the combination of nervous vulnerability and not finding the silencer made it terrifying. I found myself systematically snapping guards’ necks in the vain hope that then I could feel safe. By the time you add in MGS's excellent story and offbeat sense of humor, you have (of course) a classic.
The point of comparison is important, because playing Republique feels as tense, engaging, and fresh now as MGS did when it came out. The stealth gameplay may be relatively simple—but Hope’s animations and voice really sell the idea that she’s in terrible danger, and keep the tension up. The silly what-fourth-wall humor survives from MGS, if mutated into the voice of your nerdy inside man. And while I doubt the flawed characters and weep-for-your-slain-enemies edge of MGS will show up in these episodes, the world building largely makes up for that lack. The collection of banned books made a particularly nice touch—at times, presenting what makes these real-world banned books interesting in the first place; at other times, crafting a nicely disturbing sketch of an Orwellian future.
Rear Window meets Metal Gear Solid
Imagine a closed society that is so paranoid about the outside world that it monitors people to a sickening level. Sound relatable? République stands out in the iOS market as trying something new: one-touch stealth. The core loop of the game is that you help a young woman, Hope, try to escape by using the very cameras they use to survey their inhabitants. You are her eyes and ears like Jimmy Stewart in the classic film Rear Window when Jimmy plays a photographer who has a broken leg and thinks he witnesses a murder from outside his window. He gets his girlfriend (Grace Kelly) to go take a look inside the apartment. It's this feeling of helplessness when you have the information that the murder is in the next room, and she does not which République capitalizes on. Along the way, you learn a lot through the environment and the collectibles that you find. I ended up spending a lot of time looking for these things to learn more. All in all, I had a very suspenseful, fun time playing this game and I can't wait to play the next episode. Fantastic work Camouflaj!
I pride my self in my knowledge of the iOS games and their many beautiful worlds but nothing could have prepared me for this game!!!! It is by far the most Juicy thick rich and deep game yet to come out on iOS and is sure to set a standard for all mobile gaming. The story is enticing the characters are rich and varied and the undertone of trouble in paradise as the characters show that even those in charge are unsure of them selves. This game deserves a place right up their with infinity blade and horn as one of the greatest accomplishments of the iOS world. When first I heard this game announced last year in the summer I was extra tick but this game surpassed my at first sceptic excitement and brought the first unique game stile that only hand held can offer. It mixed the stealth gameplay of metal gear solid 1 with the ground blacking ( or should I say fourth wall breaking) experience that puts gamers in the driver seat more than ever before. I eagerly await episode two for the further enriching and engrossing environment that is République!
