Knock – unlock your Mac without a password using your iPhone
By Knock Software, Inc
Open iTunes to buy and download apps.
Faster and safer than typing a password, for iOS and Mac.
You keep your iPhone with you all the time. Now you can use it as a password. You never have to open the app— just knock on your phone twice, even when it’s in your pocket, and you're in.
Using Knock won't drain your iPhone's battery, even if you use it all day every day. Knock securely communicates with your Mac using Bluetooth Low Energy, a new technology that draws very little power.
BEFORE PURCHASING KNOCK, PLEASE CHECK THAT YOUR MAC IS COMPATIBLE IN THE SCREENSHOT BELOW.

- Reliability improvements
Much improved of late!
I’m finding Knock to connect much faster and more reliably. I sometimes go days without manually typing my password on my mac now. I also love the new feature to knock to enter admin password when the system requests it.

When it connects quickly, I love it. Often, though, I could spend more time waiting for it to connect to my iPhone 5 than typing my password. I really like this app, and I’ll continue using it, but I often find that I’m surprised when it’s connected and working which is not a good sign. I’m hoping future technologies and some work by the developers will eventually allow this to work more seamlessly.
Too difficult to set up apps, doesn't connect when instructed to, have to try a bunch of times. Once connected only worked for a while but once a day passes it ceases to connect with Bluetooth. Sometimes the only thing that works and hardly even then, is resetting the phone. More trouble than it's worth. Not sure if it's because of the Bluetooth connectivity on the MacBook itself or something else. Also you don't have to knock on the phone, tapping the screen with your finger tip is enough.
It works perfectly, it’s very simple and minimalist to lock and unlock the Mac. I’m using it on a MacBook Pro (mid 2014) and an iPod Touch 5th Gen. I hope see in a near future the possibility to turn on my screen and unlock the computer just knocking my iPod. And replace the passwords that we use to log in into websites or applications, that would be very interesting.
