The most elegent and flexible way to manage your personal finances on the iPhone.
Ration is a focused and delightfully interactive app that helps you organize the important aspects of managing your personal finances. Managing payments and rationing funds for specific projects and goals is what Ration does best.
Payment entry has been thoughtfully designed to be as clear and simple as possible. Data fields are written in-line in a self descriptive manner and creating flexible recurring payment schedules is simply first class. Forecast future payments by "saving ahead" for them, and funds will be rationed appropriately so you can put your mind at ease.
Envelopes fall into two separate use cases: saving for large or unplanned purchase items with "custom envelopes" (rainy day funds, vacations, down-payments), as well as saving for future payments with "managed envelopes" (which are automatically managed for you). You can schedule repeat contributions every month, and envelopes are easily assessible in the calendar for any month.
Financial planning in Ration is very unique and is based on the idea that, at any time, you are managing:
- funds rationed for this month
- funds rationed for upcoming months
- funds carried over from previous months
Using this method, planning for multiple months into the future becomes much easier and much more predicatable. The ration graph screen is gorgeously displayed with interative and animated pie charts.
From the familiar and responsive calendar view to the delightfully interactive ration graph view, every aspect in Ration has been designed with focus in mind. No more. No less.
1Password support for links associated with accounts, payments, envelopes and payees.
Powerful repeating payment scheduler. Examples include:
- Every 5 days
- Every 2 weeks
- Every month on first Monday, 15th day, last Sunday
- Every year on the last day in November
What's New in Version 1.1.3
-Now calculates balances correctly for 'Credit' accounts
-Fixed bug when updating envelope balances
Nice concept but...
The app and interface are not very user-friendly. The calendar is a problem as it only begins with the first monday of each month. So if you want to track daily spending you're out of luck. I you do enter something on say the 1st (but not a monday) you can't click on that day in the calendar to see/edit it. Graphs are not detailed enough.
Hated it for a month
Then deleted it. It randomly deleted all my information. The calendar doesn't show all the days of the month. Just terrible.
